Hezbollah has taken so many intolerable hits for years, but with Syria being such a guagmire, they don't want to committ suicide by risking 3rd Lebanon War. Not with entire Sunni world against them; not with 1+ million (Sunni) Syrian refugees in Lebanon tipping the balance in any future Civil War. Certainly not with Israel's unbelievable firepower developed just in the last few years.

OTOH, Mustafa Badreddine IS Imad Mughniye's successor. Hezzies are still immensely butt-hurt over Mughniye's assassination, vowing and attemting all kinds of revenge. Then Mughniyah's beloved son, the Prince, Jihad Mughniyah got wiped out a year ago in Quneitra along with Iranian special-ops General Allahadi and other Hezbollah commanders. Fun fact: Mustafa Badreddime was supposed to accompany them, but cancelled at the last minute, lol

In other words, MB isn't a symbolic figure like say Samir Kuntar who only had limited operational importance to the organization. No, Badreddine was THE guy to run clandestine/terror operations.

I'm not taking sides in the Middle East conflict, but as far as I know, Israel has the capability to completely wipe Hezbollah off the map in a few hours if they wanted to. With nukes and advanced fighters, anything is possible. Hezbollah's rockets could do a large amount of damage to Israel, but it's nothing compared to what Israel can do to them.
