When you understand that "they" serve satan and will offer up their own children for his riches and power of this world it makes perfect sense.

When you are under the influence of alcohol you do very stupid things that you in a sober state would never even entertain as a thought let alone follow through in action.

Same thing applies to those so drunk on power and even to the point of giving over their free will to be possessed from demonic spirits that it is much more easily understood as to why they do as they do.
