NASA will not allow the moon rocks to be studied by independent labs.
 Quoting: VALIS 226451

Simply untrue. NASA provides samples to researchers from all around the world. No affiliation with NASA is necessary or asked for.

Without repeat independent analysis it's impossible to know whether these are simply common meteorites,
 Quoting: VALIS 226451

It is, actually. There are a number of ways that lunar samples can be differentiated from meteorites, including those that originated on the Moon. Lack of fusion crust, presence of weathering, and samples comprised of fragile breccia are just some.

or rocks that were collected by Surveyor.
 Quoting: VALIS 226451

First you need to explain how a well-documented lunar probe design could return samples to the Earth without a rocket motor capable of making the return journey, or a heat shielded return capsule. Then you need to explain how the dozens of such probes that would be needed could be built and launched without anyone noticing.

The reflectors could have been dropped by orbiting probes.
 Quoting: VALIS 226451

Technically true. It does, again, require explaining how an array of such automated probes could be built and launched without anyone noticing.

Unfortunately, the official Apollo documents won't be released until 2026.
 Quoting: VALIS 226451

What the heck are you talking about? There is a mountain of documentation available, in detail that would numb the brain of all but the most dedicated enthusiast. Go to the Apollo Lunar Surface Journal for links to a selection of documents about the program. Many more are available online, or can be ordered from NASA.

What is your source for this allegation?

Pity the hoax believers can't.

They are constantly opening up new threads across the internet, going "Hey, I just figured out, the moon landing was fake because there's no stars in the pictures! How come nobody has ever answered this question before?!!!"

Or maybe some of them do search, but since THE TRUTH (tm) is more important than intellectual honesty, they pretend that no-one has ever attempted to answer their lame, hoary, old, "challenges." They are hoping to preach to people who have never heard of this moon hoax, and get them believing before any rational people discover the thread.

It's akin to the moon hoax believers who show up at astronomy and space forums hat in hand, shoes shined, looking innocent as can be; "I believe in the moon landing (sic), really I do, but I just have one little question and I was hoping some one could help...."

Well, yes!

I come here largely for entertainment. But I do try to be educational while I'm here. So I have no interest in and, I feel, nothing to contribute to threads about NWO and Indigo Children and whether Senator Obama is a Muslim and whether it should matter, or what Brittany has done since she got out of rehab.

I stick to the space-oriented threads, with small forays into other sciences I know a little about -- evolutionary biology, for instance.

So on those times when I am bored, and I have some time to see what's happening at the old GLP, I do a few quick board searches for "Apollo, Moon, Darwin," and a handful of other key terms.

I suppose it is too much to hope you might actually contribute something new?

Are you determined to prove out my comments above in every detail?

Let me ask you this. If for some reason neither I, Barls, Dr. P, or any of the other posters who know the difference between a proton and a photon discovered a new or newly resurrected Moon Hoax thread, and thus any claim made in that thread was able to stand unchallenged and be offered to anyone chancing to read the thread as uncontested truth, would this meet with your personal morality?

In short, are you okay with lying if you know you won't be caught at it?

I'd like you to ask yourself that. Because that's what this seeming desire to post whatever you want about the Moon Hoax without being challenged on it boils down to.

Re: Apollo 14 film defect?...Interesting Pic!!
.......and, wouldn't the Earth look LARGER to the Astronots themselves? Think of our moon. On the horizon it looks a helluva lot larger, because of reference points,ie trees, houses, etc. When the moon is in the centre of the sky, it looks smaller. So, the Earth would look even bigger due to no ref. points except the horizon.
And what the hell is up with that blue streak?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 134277

Actually the moon appears larger at the horizon than in the sky due to refraction of the light in the atmosphere.

There is also refraction of the moons image, not as much, while it is in the sky.

So it appears bigger.

There is no atmosphere on the moon, hence, no refraction.

thus,Earth appears real size from the moon, that is; not larger than it is,like the moon appears from earth.

Aussie Aussie Aussie!!!

Nifty?? Thats, what, out near the Tanami? Sweet crap. Now is no time to be up there. You're an iron man, mate. Or copper. Or something.

Here's hoping you've got tickets to see the continuing caning of the Poms tomorrow.

About 70km due west of telfer gold mine.

Hahahaha, was 56 in the sun a few weeks back .... before everyones thermos went beserk. 13litres of fluid consumed that day, but i survived.

You should feel the humidity at level 18 in the underground mine, even worse when the buggers park a 60 tonne bogger/truck in the crusher room we are building ... those machines are crazy, and boy do they give of some heat!

Anyway, this has nothing to do with the moon, though the entrance to the mine, at night with a full moon, is very much like the scene from 2001, and the lunar landscape with the monolith. I must buy a good camera and post it one day.

Keep up the good work mate, and you also Earnest.

And the ashes are back!

.......and, wouldn't the Earth look LARGER to the Astronots themselves? Think of our moon. On the horizon it looks a helluva lot larger, because of reference points,ie trees, houses, etc. When the moon is in the centre of the sky, it looks smaller. So, the Earth would look even bigger due to no ref. points except the horizon.
And what the hell is up with that blue streak?

Actually the moon appears larger at the horizon than in the sky due to refraction of the light in the atmosphere.

This pic is one of some sort of trailer with wheels.

Looks like the guys found it easier to carry the thing to it's current location though, 'cause there are no sign of any wheel marks?

That's not true. If anything the refraction would make the Moon appear smaller rather than larger:

[link to en.wikipedia.org]

The most reasonable theory to me is that we see the sky as a flattened bowl, with what's directly overhead seeming much closer than what's on the horizon (which is true for clouds and such but not for astronomical objects). So the Moon is the same angular size on the horizon as it is high in the sky, but we think it's farther away, so it seems larger.

There is no atmosphere on the moon, hence, no refraction.

thus,Earth appears real size from the moon, that is; not larger than it is,like the moon appears from earth.
 Quoting: Swordtongue 785249

The Earth is four times the size of the Moon and would therefore span two degrees as seen from the Moon as contrasted with the Moon's half-degree as seen from the Earth. Still 2 degrees across is still only 1/90th of the distance from horizon to horizon.

That's the "Modularized Equipment Transporter" that was only used on Apollo 14 - after that they had the lunar rovers.

Looks to me as if they could have pulled it to that location, turned it, and then obliterated the tracks with their footprints. You can see the tracks in the rest of the panorama:

the sky is a lens

moon has no sky

moon has no lens

and by the way, other poster, the refraction makes it appear BIGGER, just look as the moon approaches the horizon,it appears bigger

Look here:

See those 3 white dots just above the "lunar surface"?.

zoom in.

Pan around.

At first I thought "frikking heck it's Orion's belt"... but see, that doesn't tie in at all because where are the other stars and why are these so very bright and visible and BIG and the others are simply not there?

No way that they are Orion's belt. No other stars even faintly visible.

So WTF are they?

Wrong.
This question has been pondered for hundreds if not thousands of years. This problem is commonly referred to as the moon illusion.

Some have speculated that there is some effect that causes the atmosphere to act like a magnifying glass making the moon look bigger. It turns out that any distortion caused by the atmosphere would actually make the moon look a little smaller.

Most scientists agree that the reason the moon looks bigger is purely in our minds.
