(CBS) CHICAGO It has been a long time coming, but a golden retriever who survived a hurricane is back in his owner's arms.

The dog's name is Sam I Am. He disappeared from his home in Florida when the storm hit and the fence blew down in his backyard in July 2004.

But he turned up in the Johnsburg area in McHenry County. His owners had a tracking chip implanted, and the McHenry County Department of Health Animal Control Division in Woodstock was able to reunite him with his family.

Sam I Am' s owner, Alice Barnes of Hillsboro, Fla., met him at O'Hare International Airport on Thursday night.
