You don't honestly believe it would only take 1000 years given migration speeds and reproductive rates to have their descendants in certain places throughout Europe? I don't think so. By 1000 AD their were 1000's of Cathars in France (before they were almost completely wiped) by those who did not want the truth to be self-evident.
