Quoting: Face Palmer lol, nah face, but something very strange IS happening this yr as over 12 climbers and sherpas (they never tell u these) have died from altitude sickness and a further 400 being treated at various stages up everest. 30 are sick close to summit right now and they are trying to rescue them. something isnt right, their's never this many and very few deaths from it a yr. maybe less oxygen at high altitude than normal? if so why?? Quoting: Carimbo Hanky i mean, you can prove your fitness in less risky ways I can only speak for myself as to why I would want to climb it and its for the challenge and adventure and the comradery that comes with such a long grueling risky and dangerous trek. Your lives are literally in each others hands. Strikes a real ancient memory in the human dna from the time we were explorers fighting for survival. The most important things in life and the rawest things in life float to the surface and you learn alot about life and yourself. |

Quoting: Face Palmer We can still easily say that meat-eaters are more likely to die on mount everest than if you are a vegan. Really? Sounds to me like 100% of vegans attempting the climb died. |

But where’s that story? Why is no one reporting on that? Perhaps it’s because as a society, we have grown defensive against the vegan diet. Despite the fact that reports and studies come out every week detailing the negative health and environmental impacts of meat consumption, we do not want to accept that we may need to tone down our obsession with meat. That is, if we want to continue living on this planet. [link to www.onegreenplanet.org] |

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity. The woman who is not pursued sets up the doctrine that pursuit is offensive to her sex, and wants to make it a felony. Talk about FIT! Even his finger joints were well developed - dude just looks so powerful - he had movie star looks to boot - never met someone like Scott - again, in incredible shape. He would put the Arnold to shame, minus the fake, steroid muscles. Nice guy, very focused, but did not fit in with the corporate types whatsoever. Obviously a legend now and viewing the books/movies about him, makes me think absolutely no one is immune to the powers of Mt. Everest. Not even Scott. Sometimes I think the earthquakes that rattled the mountain a few years ago was the mountain shaking off the hordes that attempt to climb its sacred peak every year. They're like fleas now and littering it like a garbage dump. The gods are not happy. Mountain climbing means a lot to people who seek to find purpose in their lives. Can't blame them really - we all live in such a fake reality and may think "What's the point?" each day we wake up. If you're willing to take the risk, vegan or not, mountain climbing is similar to going to Las Vegas. Chances are, you're not going to win but may die trying and a miserable death at that. |

Quoting: Face Palmer Maria Strydom, a 34-year-old Australian academic, succumbed to altitude sickness after having to turn back on the final leg of the intrepid trek. She was among 30 climbers, including her husband, to fall ill or suffer frostbite climbing the world’s tallest peak over the weekend. She is also the third mountaineer to die in the first Everest climbing season since an earthquake in Nepal last year. On Friday Dutchman Eric Arnold died in his sleep near the mountain’s summit after telling team-mates “my body has no energy left”. [link to www.standard.co.uk] A vegan academic.
