Re: less food = higher state of consciousness
The last time I went over 24 hours without eating I was much more alert and had high energy.

I feel better when I don't eat breakfast, eat a late lunch and then dinner. I get hungry in the early afternoon but that passes and then I feel more energetic.

I know people that absolutely crash if they don't have breakfast. Everyone is different. Go with what makes you feel best.

Re: less food = higher state of consciousness
has anyone heard the idea that eating less is the way to the higher states of consciousness? eating lighter = lighter state of being. i read through this book earlier today and really got me thinking that this might be the answer. [link to breatharian.info]

what does everyone think?

Absolutely without a doubt for me. I did an 8 day water only fast followed by a 6 day juice only fast and my mind was sharper and I had more energy (after the first 2-3 days) than I have ever had. I felt like a ninja.......much more productive at work and at home. There are a lot of great resources out there about fasting. Interestingly, there is a lot of evidence that says that someone would actually die of starvation more quickly on very limited calories than they would on no calories at all. Obviously, I'm not advocating starvation but the science is very interesting as it relates to how the body burns stored fat when it has no calories.

I know a lot of speedfreaks. they do amphetamines all the time and they eat almost no food at all. yet they are fit and never ill. and they live long. that has got to do with their low food intake. just saying.

we are all bought up in a world believing we are all humans, the the Truth is, we are all spirits of varying levels of consciousness, and we're not all meant to believe the same things

what works for us, you are gonna have a very difficult time explaining to someone who doesnt remember their spirit connection

"Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God."

People get fat because the body has no way to burn the energy consumed. People have forgotten that food is our source of energy and not something to be eaten when the stomach growls.

The fat will come off, when you burn that energy, at the gym.

Re: less food = higher state of consciousness
there is a number out there, a real number... the number of heart beats you get. Most people get the same amount give or take, but the length of their life depends on how fast they beat those heart beats away. faster heart rate, shorter life, slower heart rate, longer life

digestion is the same. there is a number of pounds of food your body will digest in your life. the number is about the same for everyone. you eat more, you burn out your digestion allowance faster
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 58351617

That's horseshit.

I remember when some stupid blog claimed that heartbeat crap years ago. It is wrong and people who believe it are usually fat ass slackers that use it as an excuse to sit on the couch. They usually die from heart disease way earlier than if they had been athletic.

On the other hand someone who runs has a consistently lower heart rate so even if that theory were true, you would live much longer by being a runner since 95% of the time your heart rate would be about 40% lower than it would be if you were a fat ass obese piece of shit sitting in front of the tv 8 hours a day.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 785411

I'm pretty sure that you are missing the point entirely. The point is that if someone exercises then their resting heart rate is lower. So yes, their heart rate is more while exercising but overall their heart beats fewer times In a day because their resting heart rate might be 60 bpm vs 85 bpm of someone who did not exercise.

Thanks, also, how do interpret a craving? I mean the kind you can get daily, like there is just something, one thing that you really want that will satisfy you but it never quite really does and then you have the backlash of the indulgence. I have my own ideas about this just want to see if you have an angle I haven't thought of.

i think willpower is required at least just the first day. i find that if i can get through first 2 days without food, (still on liquids and some fruit ) its quite easy after then. i think that when food is still in the body, digesting and eliminating through the body, it causes hunger and pychological impulses, and once these stop its not a problem

meditation, is a lot different when you arnt digesting. the body and mind are lighter and thoughts about food arnt as strong, distractions are different

i didnt really want to give my personal story. the problem is more psychological for me, i get the idea about how earth is a place for beings to come and eat, so maybe thats it, i dunno. i dont really have physical hunger anymore. im living more like a liquidarian at the moment, still drinking soda/tea/coffee, and quite happy with this, but i think ill reach a point where ill have to quit these drinks to see what its like without

theres also the issue about the effect that caffeine / sugar / soda and dairy have on the endocrine system. pineal glands and pituitary glands. i think ill have to stop these at some point.

have you seen the movie, man from earth? this is a film that to me hints at the idea of living forever (as a human)

"You know, it could happen.

The pancreas turns over cells every 24 hours,

The stomach lining in three days,

The entire body in seven years,

But the process falters.

Waste accumulates, eventually proves fatal to function.

Now if a quirk in his immune system

Led to perfect detox,

Perfect renewal, then yeah.

He could duck decay."

"I would say...

perfect regeneration of the body's cells,

Especially in the vital organs.

Actually, the human body appears designed

To live about 190 years.

Most of us just die of slow poisoning.

Maybe he did something right,

Something everybody else in history had done wrong.

What, like eat the food,

Drink the water, and breathe the air? "

the real question is, lets say if this was possible. can you imagine living a life, where you dont eat anymore, never have any real friends, because you have to keep secrets and lie all the time, dont attend social events.

i still think this is only for someone that has allready lived a hermetic existence before, or has understood the sam gold theory alot better than i have

Good points OP and metaphors! I am working things out along the same lines as you (more psychological/emotional than physical). I do not suffer from gluttony (thank the universe) but I still have couple perverse food related ways of working some old emotional issues out.

I try not to condemn myself but allow myself the time and patience it takes to work these things out. There is also a perverse desire to sabotage myself to accommodate long standing indoctrination (from childhood but more so all previous incarnations) where struggle and depravation is much the norm you literally don't know how to live (yet) without it. So, to me the journey is fun.

To combat this I regularly remind myself that to be 'At Peace" is NATURAL!!!

Saw this and remember you mentioned ego earlier in the thread. I think most people have mislabeled the ego as a bad thing, a hindrance. I think you need to refer to the wounded ego as the part of us that can wreak havoc in our lives. It is wounded in childhood and retains an epic sense of narcissistic injury that it continually tries to heal through its inherent maladaptive measures. If you bring yourself out of the wounded ego and find the internal Human, that aspect of ourselves (that we regularly use with other people when need be) can heal the wounded part of our self.

Snippet from a Revolver discussion board:

The movie isn't an analogy to chess. The movie is about the illusion that imprisons every one of us.

Deep beneath the films violence, blood and grit, lurks a spiritual and enlightening message - a message echoed throughout time by revered figures such as Buddha and Bodhidharma, a message also echoed in Kabbalah (which is probably where Guy Ritchie drew his inspiration from, as his then-wife, Madonna, is heavily into Kabbalah). And that message is this: we are not our ego; the ego, far from being our friend, is responsible for most of our pain and misery; the ego is a product of the mind and creates the illusion of separation, the ego is a prison, a prison that very few people recognise as such.

To answer your question: Mr. Gold is everyone's ego. In Jake's case, Mr. Gold is the part of Jake who wants to kill Macha.

I do believe Spirit can choose any number of forms to take. I wouldn't call them alien just another aspect of Spirit (each Spirit is a spark of the Divine). At the level of Spirit, there is less of a contrast and more similarity (yet still important distinctions). I think only a portion of our Spirit is inhabited in our physical bodies.

I think the game part is achieving the integration of our entire spirit into the physical body. I think we go through cycles in time where we do this, fall out of the Divine Nature and then work our way back to it.
