Fortunately for us Christianity was never put into the constitution. But we do have freedom of religion which does include all other religions like Islam and Judaism. Jews were here at the founding, along with Quakers, Unitarians and some other religions. Muslims were first encountered as the Barbary pirates, who took Americans as slaves among other atrocities. Jefferson would be rolling in his grave thinking we've let them in here now to promote their subversion. Big difference. Enormous difference. Angola has reportedly declared Islam illegal and ordered for all of the country’s mosques to be closed down. Minister of culture Rosa Cruz e Silva said that mosques in the largely Christian country would be closed until further notice. She described Islam as a ‘sect’ that would be banned as counter to Angolan customs and culture. There are unconfirmed reports that mosques across the African country are being destroyed, according to the International Business Times. President Jose Edurado dos Santos reportedly told the Osun Defence daily: ‘This is the final end of Islamic influence in our country.’ Along with Islam, which is a religion associated with less than 1 per cent of the population of 19 million, 194 other ‘sects’ have been banned in the nation, where more than half the population is Christian. Ms Cruz e Silva said: ‘The legalisation of Islam has not been approved by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights [and] their mosques will be closed until further notice.’ Clashes between Christians and Muslim people are frequently reported in the local media. Manuel Fernando, director of the Angolan Ministry of Culture's National Institute for Religious Affairs, denied the reported measures. [link to www.dailymail.co.uk] 'There is no war in Angola against Islam or any other religion,' Fernando told Agence France-Presse. 'There is no official position that targets the destruction or closure of places of worship, whichever they are.' America must and WILL do the same, eventually! |

However, the reports were later denied by the government[6][16] The Ministry of Culture stated, "There is no war in Angola against Islam or any other religion."[19] At the time, Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), said that his organisation would send a fact-finding team to Angola." The Amazing Panda User ID: 77462520 United Kingdom 03/15/2019 07:43 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | [link to www.bbc.co.uk (secure)] The persistent myth that Islam was banned in Angola False reports that Angola has become the first country in the world to ban Islam have re-emerged. But the original story isn't true. A contact in Luanda took this photograph last month of a mosque that was still functioning: One Angolan Muslim, Adam Campos, told the BBC that in fact the Muslim community is "growing every day". But Mr Campos says his own mosque was closed by the government a few years ago and, in the same period, some were destroyed. This is where the misunderstanding that Islam had been banned appears to have come from. He explains that mosques were destroyed because the government said they did not have permission to be built. He adds that not all of them were closed, and he went to other ones to pray, although sometimes people chose to worship outside his closed mosque. Then, after a few months, and lawyers had got involved, his three-floor mosque in the Hoji-ya-Henda area of Luanda was re-opened. The Amazing Panda |
