Facebook automatically posted my business without my knowledge
I just randomly searched my business on facebook and it popped up with my phone number and address.

I didn't make that page. the information was taken from government registry without my knowledge.

Facebook connected me to my business on their own.

I kept my business private because it's not for public knowledge. we don't advertise. I'm so pissed.

Re: Facebook automatically posted my business without my knowledge
My boss was looking into a Web page for his auto repair shop. I wasn't sure if he had a FB page so I searched FB for the business. Sure enough, without his knowledge, there was a simple page with the business name and phone number. I thought it very strange that they had done this on their own.

I suppose like the Yellow Pages could collect this information and publish it, there is some law FB is following for open source information.

and with the phone company you had to call them and pay extra to be unlisted.

but this is a sign of what Snowden was working on. knowledge databases, datamining and consolidation of identities.

So there actually is a process Debbie to get a page removed or to take control of it. I was able to get through to Facebook through various means/connections to figure out what to do. I'm not sure how to create a ticket to start the process, but once you get that (it was created for me) the process looks something like this:

1. A copy of a valid government-issued photo ID, such as a current driver's license or a passport, of the individual signing the statement. See the different kinds of IDs we accept in the Help Center:

[link to www.facebook.com (secure)]

2. A notarized and signed statement from a person with sufficient knowledge and authority over this matter that includes all of the following:

a) A description of your relationship to the Page (and authority to request a change in the person(s) who manage the Page, as applicable);

b) The name of the current person(s) who manage the Page, as applicable;

c) The relationship of the above person(s) to the Page;

d) An explanation of your request, and whether there has been a termination of the employment and/or business relationship with the named person(s), as applicable;

e) All documentation supporting your request;

f) The Facebook account or email address associated with the Facebook account (or Timeline) that you wish to have added as the new admin of the Page; and

g) A declaration under penalty of perjury that the information you have provided is true and accurate (your statement must include this language).

my company was kept separate for legal purposes and now they've linked me to it.

so to remain private I have to beat the system and take my own precautions.

but here's the thing.
I want a personal FB page.
I don't want my business connected to my personal life unless I control that. and I have good reason.
that's not for Facebook to choose, that is my choice. well... no longer.
that's hegemony.
hegemony leads to communism.

I don't need a solution. I'm pissed that this happened so easily and a prime example of how we are losing freedoms. how we as people are being consolidated into databases so rapidly and covertly. it's alarming in real time.
