Pensions Timebomb in “Slow Motion Detonation” In U.S., EU and Internationally
The ‘pensions timebomb’ is in “slow motion detonation” in the U.S, EU and internationally as pension funds around the world begin to go bankrupt. Governments and central banks bailed out banks at the expense of pensioners and the pensions of workers who have been “thrown under the bus”...

Good observation, Tess. There is an unbelievably high amount of "unfunded liability" plans here in the US that will never be able to payout in accordance with what was promised.

Ultimately they'll end up as part of what we call the PBGC (Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation) and be paid out at pennies on the dollar.

The Teamsters Union pensions here in the US are an early example.

INteresting. Thanks.
"The world will soon wake up to the reality that everyone is broke and can collect nothing from the bankrupt, who are owed unlimited amounts by the insolvent, who are attempting to make late payments on a bank holiday in the wrong country, with an unacceptable currency, against defaulted collateral, of which nobody is sure who holds title."

AIG almost went down with Lehmann Bros last time around in 2008.

This time, since nothing was fixed and it was made worse by the Obama administration....expect multiple bank failures.
Incidentally....AIG holds vast amounts of federal, state and local government pensions... of all types of government workers.

You're woefully uninformed. Pensions are NOT Social Security in the sense they're being discussed here. Google is your friend...read, learn, and think before you comment on things you seem to know little or nothing about.

They are promising a pension, yet governments can't stick to a budget and run at a deficit, debt is the new wealth for banks, and corporations have to avoid taxes to keep their stock up yet claim business expenses as tax write offs to afford expensive maintenance/upgrades or it just would not happen....retirees are the poster child to keep the dream alive so that young people would not be checking out if they knew that they will be dying someday at their work stations, there is no such thing anymore as a retirement time for them, it has been such a failure and has been deigned to raise up a free shit army and then have them destroy shit 5a

When I was a younger man, I had many thousands in
"Old Court Savings and Loan" in Baltimore.
They were offering 11% interest. Irresistable.
Everybody knew Sum Ting Wong, but we put our
money down, "BELIEVING" that the FSLIC was
covering our bets.

Turns out Jeffrey Levitt, the bankster, like
Bernie Madoff was running a Ponzi scheme,
whose string had just about run out.

A little jewish lady came into our place of business
one day and said, If anybody here has any money
in Old Court, you better get it out now.
They're about to go under.

That afternoon, I went and got a cashier's check
for all I had there and deposited it in the
Savings Bank of Baltimore. It cleared and I relaxed.

I called my brothers who also had a chunk in there
and gave them a heads up. Poo poo.
"You're going to miss out on 11% interest on the
word of some old jewish woman?"

A few days later, the lines formed outside of
Old Court Savings and Loan,
and a few days after that the doors closed forever.

It took my brothers over 3 years
to get their money out of the receivers
of Old Court S&L.

The Moral:
Some people know what time it is.
Some people don't.

When TSHTF most people are going to be caught
with their drawers down.
They are the same people you hear every day,
POO POOING all this doom talk.

The #1 budget buster in any major U.S. city is elaborate benefits, healthcare costs and unfunded pensions for public sector union workers, the worse being teachers, police and firefighters. Basically, these 3 groups especially are responsible for extorting through any means available, including strong-arm tactics, their special privileged employment status. Common for tax increases to be necessary to exclusively pay off these public sector unions and their elaborate benefits packages, pay, pensions, healthcare costs (often even retirees continue to receive their very generous and inexpensive tax payer funded healthcare packages in addition to generous benefits.

Of politicians didn't loot pension systems there would be to much money. This is a ploy to turn the public attention away from corruption. Keep believing the lies that you claim not to be blinded by. It's all planned to control, having money allows people to focus on real issues instead of struggling
