Jesus denied being God
43 He said to them, “How is it then that David, in the Spirit, calls him Lord, saying,

44 “‘The Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit at my right hand,
Matthew 22:43-45

The psalm quoted here is Psalm 110:1. The first LORD, usually capitalized, is not a translation of the text, but God's name, the tetragrammaton, being substituted.

A Psalm of David. YHWH says to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.”

Here we have YHWH, the Most High God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, adressing someone else, a second person referred to as lord, adoni.

So why did Jesus so bluntly deny being God? Didn't he get the memo regarding hos upcoming promotion? 1dunno1

Re: Jesus denied being God
Here Jesus relates this to a second Messianic prophecy, Psalm 110, quoting the first verse. This also, was a well accepted fact among the Jews that God would address the Lord of the human author of this psalm, David the king, saying, "Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool." David's Lord, the Jews understood is Messiah, who God or Jehovah will command to take His place at the position of power and authority, until David's Lord's "enemies" are subjugated. No doubt the scribes, Pharisees, Sadducees, chief priests and elders of the people, would reflect on this later and realize that according to Jesus, the "enemies" to be subjugated in the future, was a veiled reference to themselves. The Lord Jesus would suffer at their hands, but sit at the right hand of God, patiently awaiting the total subjugation of His enemies, including those very religious leaders. So Psalm 110 was a product of the mind of David the king and the will of the Holy Spirit of God, so Jesus could say, "How then, doth David, in the Spirit, call him Lord?" Then Jesus concluded His question with these words...

Matthew 22:45-46 If David, then, call him Lord, how is He his son? And no man was able to answer Him a word, neither dared any man from that day forth ask Him any more questions.

Obviously, they couldn't answer because they refused to believe. Their theology recognized that the coming Messiah would be of the lineage of David and their theology recognized that God would address Him as "Lord," but they couldn't understand how king David could address Him as Lord. The title of "Lord" or Adonai (in the Hebrew) implies sovereign ruler over someone. If David called Him, "Lord," then he would be calling his own son, the sovereign ruler over himself, in acknowledgment of subjection to Him. This to the Jewish thinking, where the respect of one's father was a serious duty, presented a serious problem! And of course, for someone accepting Jesus as the Messiah and sovereign God, this is no problem. David welcomes Jesus as his sovereign Lord regardless of the fact that these Jewish religious leaders refused Him and this was the very issue that Jesus was driving at in the first place.

Its pretty hard to be God and your own son at the same time. Christians seem not to consider that.

Paul warned against serving the God of Jesus, Abraham, Noah and Moses alone? You must be thinking of someone else. The Paul of the Bible had this to say.

the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ 2 Cor 11:31

Re: Jesus denied being God
What you do not get is that Jesus was a man then he became the word of God, he was not God nor did he say he was. He was the message from God who sent his son. So, if you do not believe this go to the Old Testament Prophets and see where The Lord God said only he was the Savior of men. Jesus was the word of God he carried the word and God gave him his power. Without God he could do nothing, he said it many time, none is good but God. But he was the image of God, so you think maybe he was the eyes, ears and mouth of God, so The Lord God could experience his creation through Jesus his son?
At the cross Jesus was left Just a man. His strength left him, God does not bare sin. That is why Jesus came, and he did as his father willed it. He was the lord and Messiah and the son of man. That the difference he had a mans body.

Jesus was part of he hold thing, he was the son of God the spirit of Prophecy. He also is now the king of Kings and the lord Of Lord and no one comes to the Father but by him. You may not believe in him but you will meet him, sooner or later. You do know God said they would call him God on Earth so it no problem. It was as if God was on earth. Part of God was in Jesus.

Just remember it does not work in Heaven as it does on earth, so if Jesus had part of God, you can say he was both.

He always said if you see me, you see the father, and it was so, but he the image of God. No one has seen the Father except the Son. He sits at the right hand of God.

What's the point of this poorly written article? Two are communicating; one is YHWH, the Most High God, the other is not. This is a irrefutable fact thay can't be circumvented by cheap sophistry and you running to the nearest false teacher for a copy-and-paste whenever the truth comes knocking.

It's really that simple, my friend. If there's true worship there's false worship. I don't even think the trinity is Jesus worshipped alongside YHWH, I think it's a false image period.

John 4:23-24

23 But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

That's what the Moslemz say.

they insist that Jesus, Abraham and all other Prophets are people specially chosen by the Lord to spread the message. I asked one of them once then how was Jesus born with Mary being a virgin. He replied that how was Adam born with no mother or father............

OP are you trolling for the Moslemz
