I bought one on a whim awhile back and am actually very pleased with performance, the forethought on some of the features, pricing and availability. I've fired more round through it than either my ARs (or any other rifle recently for that matter) and have not had one issue. Being American made and lifetime warranty is just icing on the cake. Quoting: Louve [link to www.hi-pointfirearms.com] Their handguns are pretty heavy and I don't care for them as much, but I have yet to see an issue with their carbines. ok dumb question. can guns get wet and still fire? |

Just Right Carbine has a pink one :) |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 71835558 ![]() 06/13/2016 04:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I want a rifle. for a girl. Quoting: nikki nikita any suggestions? what are the advantages, disadvantages? Find a range. Many will allow you to rent a firearm and will help you with familiarization on safety, loading, etc. Guns are not one size fits all. What works for GLP posters may not work for you. That is why it is best you actually get some hands on at a range with a weapon before you buy one. For example, my wife likes her 9mm. I like my 44 black powder pistol-don't laugh, most self defense situations don't require more than 6 shots and I can shoot it faster than a semi auto pistol can cycle. Anyway, OP, find a range and try a few out before you run out and buy. Are you crazy? Blackpowder revolver faster than a pistol? Lotta smoke, obscure your vision and aim... Blasting ain't same as hitting... Try a .44 Schofield light load in an S&W model 29 if you want "fast". 200gr flatpoint bullet. But... that ain't for defense, much less offensive fighting use. target loads in a .45acp match gun will make your head spin with the speed and accuracy they deliver; plus No Smoke! Nothing like a S&W J frame 5shot .38special for concealment and speed; if you are moved for a hideout revolver. While on topic of "speed", I've fired an A-2 sighted AR-15 at 200yds in match conditions, 10rds in 7sec and kept all rounds under 2". Light recoiling AR is a masterpiece for precision. A 77gr match bullet at 500yds delivers more energy than a .357mag 158gr at 25yds. Big energy delivery and fast precision is a great combination... Not crazy. Overhand grip. I practice a lot. Yes, faster than an auto can rack. You can find a similar speed test on YouTube. Ditto for the champion shooter who empties and reloads (with speed loader) a revolver in just a few seconds. Triple 7 makes very little smoke. I don't use actual black powder. It's what I have trained with a lot and what I like to use. I use a 1858 Remington, which allows for fast cylinder changes and I have no worries about betting my life on it. I also retain my anonymity for the most part. No forms and mailed to my doorstep. Schofield I like. I've tried 45 acp and wasn't impressed. Too many jams. |

I have a Uberti 1858, 5 1/2" barrel, in satin nickel that is just like his gun. He robbed many's the train with it. I hit everything I shoot at, and it's a lot of fun. The .25-06 is the flattest shooting, most accurate rifle for medium to larger game I know of, but the rounds are scarce and spensive, so the next best thing is the .243. It doesn't really kick, shoots flat for 200 yards and just a hair low at 300. High velocity boat tail wreaks havoc on impact. I blew up groundhogs so bad they looked like sock puppets. I'd try to find a deal on a Remington 700, older Winchester or Ruger rifle with a good scope, (3 to 9X) with a bipod. Don't even kick, flat as a laser beam. |

This carbine looks a little ugly at first, but once you add the scope, grip handle, flashlight, laser, 2 magazine holder and a pretty sling, you are set. 30 rds in a workhorse of a carbine, all new for about $400.
