like for people who get hurted by drug

You mean addicts or people who have been traumatized in the past?

If you know someone you suspect has DID, ask them "WHO'S OUT NOW?"

dont you try to insert elements of reflection to them ??

dont you try to give em words that give to them good brivids ??

Check out a few psych forums, a couple really popular ones have a subsection for Dissociative Identity Disorder.

I've always been interested in psychology. Their own posts can give you a lot of insight. But with DID it's also very very confusing to read - you can imagine.

I would say don't engage in conversation yourself - most of these psych forums act as support groups - so it might not really be the right place to ask questions. But still a good place to observe.

disassociation, something that has an internal origin within self and yet is distinctly foreign or is a recognizable nature other then your own.

a simple exxample, ex - previous, ample - quantity.

someone hears voice calling them, now if this voice is recognizable and benevolent the incident is dismissed as the mind's memory making associations. the incident is taken as a normal occurrence.

however if the voice is not a recognized voice, it may be a voice from a traumatic experience. an experience that brings uncertainity and bad feelings to the surface. the incident is not dismissed. an uncertainity grows around the experience, and unlike the the good memory asociation it takes a different path. the occurence, because of its unresolved nature becomes circular, and the pattern grows and manifest into
a repeating cycle, until a real schism occurs in the thought process. the bifurcation becomes conducive to personalities as a way of trying to explain a forgotten traumatic experience. a traumatic experience that originally was barely memorable reintroduces itself essentially via a random voice clip in one's mind. did, the mind obsession taking a dark turn.

somthing did happen! did is a learned reaction.

along the same vein, stuttering is a learned reaction. any learned reaction can be unlearned or moderateed if caught in time! lol

...Well I would answer with my birth name, as I've integrated most of my episodes. I have recovered most of my memories.

When I was being raised by the state of Colorado I had the pleasure of being housed with an individual who had DID. It is a very scary thing, however the experience showed me that people who claim to have it do not. Experts from all around the world would come to Cleo Wallace Center to Study this person. This individual would change personalities depending on the time of day. Very radical Personality shifts far beyond what a person could act. Even when no clocks where present the Cycle would continue. There were a few personalities that appeared to come out situationaly, but the person cycled through 3 main personalities over the course of the day. The primary was a 8 year old girl with a very pronounced stutter.

DID is such a severe illness once you are diagnosed you will most likely be in an institution as a lab rat for the remainder of your days. There is no way to keep someone with DID in society without them being a risk of harm to others. The liability alone keeps them inpatient.

When did you recover your memories (like how old) and what triggered it and did it make you feel ill and how did you find a specialist who took you seriously, if you did?

It is such a rare and serious cluster of symptoms that you can find research papers on all known cases. They do sometime change the name, but usually the illness comes to light through a violent crime so the names are in the papers.

...really? but isn't it a disorder that develops in order to help a person continue to function, in the face of trauma - isn't that why it exists ? if so that doesn't make any sense - wouldn't a person be used to functioning with it in day to day? maybe not without pathology - of course, but...you see what I'm saying don't you?

The theory is it is caused by a survival response to severe trauma. How can you survive modern society if you cannot be sure of who you are at any given moment? How do you keep a job? No modern society would only make the situation worse, these people are not capable of living a normal life in any stretch of the imagination. read some of the case stories. Most people diagnosed where kept isolated or prisoners for years before being discovered they where not in the general population to begin with .

Even the most successful person I am aware of Kim Nobel was institutionalized for years. She cannot drive she is in constant therapy, if she misses an appointment they baker act her ass. There is a book about it but her case is controversial many call fraud. Others say hers is a case of a possible cure.

It's not usually that severe, though. Normal DID isn't like a "memento" situation where people are switching that rapidly that often and without coconsciousness between alters.



If you read the dissociative experiences scale, it talks about stuff like extreme daydreaming, trancing out, zoning out, compartmentalizing memories - if you read only the most extreme manifestation case studies you don't get an entirely accurate picture of those who have it - exactly the same as if you read a description of violent homicidal psychopaths you don't get an accurate picture of sociopathy. Do you know how many sociopaths actually are homicidal? very very few. Most of them are just involved in basic cons and can function unnoticed in society. They aren't "usually" ted bundy, but those are the "case studies" most people know of.

I read her book yeah. That case is rather extreme though. One of the most extreme, hence it being a book.
