It was a regent theater. I went to see star wars: the force awakens there. the theater closed in january for renovations. when it reopened about six months later it became the theater that I went to in december. it is literally impossible that the theater I went to could have existed in december when it only opened in june, and it was a totally different theater in december, but I have evaluated every possibility and nuance of my memory and it happened, for better or worse. there are other supporting facts and features of this story nobody is sure to believe but talking about it makes it uncomfortable, so I'll just leave it at that and sidle away into the mist. I was driving back to Phoenix from Sedona with a bed load of rock in the back of the truck for my grandpa's fountain/pond he wanted to build. He and my wife were sitting next to me and sleeping as were passing through Black Canyon City. I was having a very hard time staying awake myself, but I knew I just had to stay awake because I didn't want to crash and maybe kill us all. It was dark by then and all I could see were the stars, my headlights shining on the road, and the street lines. I was getting so scared of going off the road. I hoped that if I did fall asleep that the grooves on the side of the road would wake me up in time to correct back in the lane. Then suddenly I was several miles into Phoenix. Normally you see the city lights far off in the distance before you got into the city. And 30 years ago it was a pretty far distance to drive before you could see Phoenix From Black Canyon City. For all these years I figured half of my brain fell asleep and the other half went into auto pilot, or something like that, to explain the missing memory. And the apparent good driving.
