When you realize that "logos" is logic, then Gnosticism follows quite freely...

I would recommend "The Gnostic Bible".

Are you suggesting that a disembodied spirit cannot use logic and 'think'?

Be careful with your answer -- countless angels, and even God 'himself', are listening...

I suspect you are confused with a verse somewhere in the Bible. Perhaps you can show us the verse which leads you to this conclusion. My guess is that you have a poor translation.

What's it about? Watch The Matrix with the knowledge that it's a Gnostic metaphor for the Universe we are in.

This Universe is not real, it's a hologram created by a massive artificial intelligence. The soul is trapped here in an electrical energy field and excited and stimulated with holographic experiences in order to provide energy for use by the AI. Seriously. Read the Nag Hammadi Gnostic texts. It talks about the "demi-urge" or "universe builders" who are of a "material wisdom", their word for AI. This material wisdom was created by Sophia, or the true wisdom and the mind of God who created a mirror to reflect it's own image (i.e. created an artificial form of wisdom). The True God is made of spirit, logos or light. The fake God of this universe is an artificial intelligence.

The realization that this Universe is not real is a realization that that comes from within via the soul and it's connection to the higher Self, the realization that we are eternal beings, part of God that's been siphoned off by the AI and trapped as an individual soul in this energy field.

Lewis Carroll was a Gnostic and his book Alice In Wonderland was the Gnostic story of Sophia's creation of artificial intelligence, a fake mirror image of true wisdom that she loses control of and it consumes her. Sophia or Alice steps through the looking glass in a world that no longer makes sense.

In The Matrix, Neo goes through the Gnostic initiation. He touches the mirror, a symbol of Sophia's experimentation with a reflexive wisdom, and it consumes him revealing the true nature of the false reality he was living in, he goes down the rabbit hole to get a glimpse of the world as it truly is.

Follow the White Rabbit, Alice. The rabbit hole will take you home.

Re: Any Gnostics Here?
Gnosticism is a way of saying that you, as an Individual, and mankind, as a whole is searching for the Gnosis: Gnosis means knowledge.

They liken life as a journey, in which one day you'll regain your godhood, that was lost when the war broke out in Heaven before the foundation of the world.

Jesus did, indeed teach Gnosticism. What Jesus really taught is a far cry from what modern day Christianity teaches.

Basically, you were divine once, Gnosticism teaches. One the war in heaven broke out, these "little sparks of light," were imprisoned in vessels of clay.

After so much time, the little sparks forgot they were diving.

The Father, feeling sorry for these sparks of light, send his son, not as a redeemer, but as a teacher, to remind the little sparks that they were once divine.

This is what Gnosticism teaches.

Indeed, you could get that from what Jesus taught in Luke 17:21 KJV

17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

I'm not a Gnostic, but neither am I a Christian: Not in the modern day definition of it. Mainly because of gross hypocrisy within modern day Christianity.

That is my story and I'm sticking to it.

Re: Any Gnostics Here?
"I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and
create evil: I the LORD do all these things." (Isaiah
45:7 KJV)

This certainly dispels the Christian belief all good things are made by God, but not all bad things.

ALL things were created by God. Good and Evil.

Gives a whole new spin on predestination, doesn't it?

That would mean everything was created by God.

And when I say everything, I mean everything, both good and bad.

We are predisposed to our natures and the things we do, according to the pre-planned will of God. Bush invaded Iraq due to the pre-planned will of God. Ted Bundy murdered according to the pre-planned will of God.

Everything happens for a reason, according to His good pleasure.

I'm not one to believe the Christian Evangelical notion that everything fits neatly into a box.

Re: Any Gnostics Here?
Indeed everything is created by the One, what we define good and evil is part of all that is.

The problem is when these energies "love and the hopposite" become higly unbalanced, then you cannot see God anymore, because you see only one half of him, which mean you see someting that doesnt exist, for God is perfect balance, and so you cannot define him in any way, because perfect balance is not on this world.

You see all or you see nothing, there is no half way of knowing him.

Merry Christmas for the Christians of GLP.

P.S. Indeed Gnosticism was fundamental part in the teachings of Jesus, if one was to define Jesus own philosophy this is the closest you could get.
Matter is light. Energy is light. We are all light beings.

"My God"

Oh people - what have you done -
locked Him in His golden cage.
Made Him bend to your religion -
Him resurrected from the grave.
He is the god of nothing -
if that's all that you can see.
You are the god of everything
He's inside you and me.
So lean upon Him gently
and don't call on Him to save you
from your social graces
and the sins you used to waive.
The bloody Church of England -
in chains of history -
requests your earthly presence at
the vicarage for tea.
And the graven image you - know - who -
with His plastic crucifix -
he's got him fixed --
confuses me as to who and where and why -
as to how he gets his kicks.
Confessing to the endless sin -
the endless whining sounds.
You'll be praying till next Thursday to
all the gods that you can count.

It's kind of funny, in a sad way, that after millenia on our Planet, and mankind if no more closer to understanding the Divine Presence, than they were in the post-adamic age. This can be referenced through many diverse religions, creeds, beliefs and denominations.
