FFS did we really need the EU to spell it out again for her; she was told in no uncertain terms in 2014 that Scotland would not be openly welcomed to the EU fold if Scotland had made the break from the UK.

The UK was the second largest economy in the EU. So when they stop paying for the states that are drowning in debt, who picks up the slack? Germany? Aren't they already doing more than their share? France? Italy? It's going to be interesting to see what happens...

They will also need to go it alone for a few years to demonstrate that their economy is meeting the requirements as set out by the EU for all potential new members.

Yup that's what I thought too.. Scotland would just be another "receiver nation" and Britain was a "giver nation" that PAID the new elite class of mediocre career politicians.

The EU is doomed like the decadent late roman empire as it must expand though only poor countries are left for the taking. It is also just the newer and poorer eastern countries such as Bulgaria and Romania where the EU is still seen in a positive light by it's populations. Even the Ex-Yugoslav countries people of Slovenia and Croatia are mostly disillusioned as they realize that their life standards were much better in socialist Yugoslavia then it is today!
