Finally Got A Job......BUT!

After 4 years of unemployment I finally got a job with my county. Position is a clerk, I was so elated when I got the call that I was hired. It was a relief and a comfort to know I have money coming in to pay my rent and bills.

Well on my first day, my supervisor shouted at me, across the room for a stupid email and I had to partake in some web thingy. She never told me to partake on it and when I finally did I had no clue what they were talking about.

Then the person who is to training me is always out of the office so I get bits of task here and there. So a coworker who is only there until November is training me except I can't understand what she says because she speak very slow and with an accent.

I have to answer phones from the elderly. When I tell them to spell their names slowly and clearly, they go on a shouting rant. "Is there something wrong with you?", etc. Then when they ask "What do you do?" I look at our department brochure and I tell them what is on the brochure and the coworker says "Don't tell them that!". I respond "Why the hell is that on the brochure?"


I do not have Customer Service experience and I happen to be an Introvert. I regret accepting this job but I need the money. Since I am on a 9 month probationary period, do you think it is tacky to resign or hold on until I find another job. I don't want to wait longer because I can't stand being there and also I want to the new person to be trained before that other coworker leaves before November.

Also I feel they think I'm dumb. I have worked in the Export and Banking industry. Also my coworker laughed at me because I have forgotten one of my coworkers name. Well it is a little hard to remember names if they are not in the office all the time.
