The mural was to meant to celebrate the LGBTQ community and act as an apology for raids that took place in 1981 where 286 men were arrested in four Toronto bathhouses. During the press conference, Black Lives Matter (BLM) protesters arrived, chanting and carrying signs that read “No pride in policing”. Simple Question: Why basically is Black Lives Matters protesting in Canada and specifically against a LGBTQ community Mural? Because any attention paid to the gays is attention that's not getting paid to BLM. There's only a certain amount of "social justice" attention that is up for grabs for all the attention whores, and BLM wants it all. The disrupt an LGBT event to remain media relevant because LGBT is in the headlines right now. When Bernie Sanders was in the headlines, they disrupted his events, when Trump was in the headlines, they disrupted his events, when cops shooting black criminals was in the headlines, they showed up at those events. When the party conventions are in the news next month, they will disrupt those events. They are trying to remain relevant and give the impression that their small group is much bigger than it really is. |
