This was not a chance meeting by any stretch of the imagination..... The first theory was that Clinton basically spied on Lynch, learned her schedule, then blindsided her at the airport, convincing her to let him on her plane. The motive for him doing so — in theory — would have been to get caught on purpose, to make Loretta recuse herself. That would make them get a special prosecutor, which would draw the drama out past the DNC nomination. I now think this theory is most likely bunk, because I didn’t know she could just take her self out of the equation like the New York Times said in the announcement today. If that was Clinton’s brilliant plan, it would have just backfired miraculously, and considering that Clinton is a lawyer, he wouldn’t have been dumb enough to pull something like that knowing that she could just side-step his attack. With the goal being to tell Clinton she is going to have to drop out of the race and do it without kicking and screaming, which would eventually tear the party apart, or else there would be hell to pay. The party unity of Democrats this year is already very fragile, despite what CNN is telling you. If Loretta was planning do indict, I could see her wanting to give the Clintons a heads up, just for the sake of DNC unity, so that Clinton could transition and bow out more gracefully, which would be better for both of them.
