THe D Wave computer can run more than 600 times faster than the fastest supercomputer.
However give a computation to a super computer that would take 10,000 years to solve, and the D wave quantum computer will only take seconds.
... technology that allows useful tasks to be performed in collaboration ...

Quantum computers are not particularly fast or powerful in a classical sense. They just compute in a different way. A horse gets from a to b in a particular way, as does a plane, but a plane is not just a faster horse, it just gets from a to b in a different way. A quantum computer would do much much better molding weather patterns for instance but wouldn't process your email any faster.
