I have set a course to invest in nothing but Gold, Silver, gold mutual funds, and non US Dollar denominated bond funds (TPINX).

I don't have a huge amount of money, but possibly above average for people my age.

Everything is looking up again. I set this course in 2008, and have seen ups and downs. I haven't changed this portfolio much in the last 6 years.

If the US dollar goes down I win.

Period.

Always win.

I also have puts on the S&P index (SPY) that expire in September 30

I think it will be a rough 3 months for the S&P.

Gut feeling

In Zimbabwe we have an example of the currency collapsing.

They have to go to the river and sift for gold all day long for a loaf of bread and some cooking oil.

All they take is gold. The vendors take around the trucks through the jungle areas with their goods, and the little electronic weighing scales that weigh the grams of gold.

If you are too old or sick to pan the river water for gold, you starve.

This post was intended for people that are thinking of ways to preserve their money, if they have any.

I think there are many people on GLP that have some cash or liquid assets they want to preserve.

There are lots of strategies, I just laid out mine.

Sure

They can read this post and all the hugely successful bankers will go out on Tuesday and short gold, silver, and prop up the US dollar just to ruin my investments.

In other words, another ordinary day at work for them.

I thought about some bitcoins for a while, but to me modern currency is enabled by the level of complexity of both banking and technology.

Meaning, if things do collapse say a derivatives contagion setting of a chain of collateral calls, things ultimately will become less complex.

Since pms are the world's oldest money they stand to hold their value over virtual currencies that rely on complexity for their value.

CEF- It is a Canadian Fund that has 50/50 mix of Gold and Silver.

You can buy and trade it just like any other stock or ETF.

Unlike the American counterparts like IAU, GLD, or SLV, the Canadian company audits 100% of their billion stock every year.

The American companies (IAU, GLD, or SLV) only audit the gold they have in the States, and trust the London third parties they contract with, to give their word that the bullion is in their vaults. How much is that? They won't say.

The American companies (IAU, GLD, or SLV) are JP Morgan syndicates. In other words, fraudsters.

There is absolutely nothing about bitcoin, that attracts me in the least. I don't get it and don't want to get it.
