Re: Trump's List of VP Picks - Corker, Christie, Ernst, Fallon, Gingrich, Pence, Sessions - WHAT DO YOU THINK? Thumbs up or down???
Pam Bondi. A tough cookie Florida Attorney-General. Critically important swing-state Florida. Endorsed Trump, resisting pressure from GOP big-wigs to ditch her friendship with him.

Too bad Pam Bondi doesn't have a hispanic-sounding last name, or at least a hispanic husband.

And unlike Sarah Palin, whom Katie Couric and the media turned into a big caricature liability for McCain in 2008... Pam Bondi can appeal to mainstream, moderate WOMEN voters, as well as making Undecided male voters horny.

Sure ideally, Trump needs someone from inside Washington to help him govern. But guess what? If Donald loses the election, it's all for nothing, anyway! That's why hee needs a risky Home-Run pick as a VP. Someone to excite and attract the mainstream majority of voters.

In other words: Newt Gingrich may have a wealth of Washington experience, but most people are repulsed by another fat, old White Guy (who dumped his wife when she got sick with cancer -- the media will spin it so that most American females are repulsed by Newt)

I like Chris Christie - even his "divinely-inspired" name sounds so close to Jesus Christ, so as it bring out the Evangelicals. But Christie is 5 years past his prime politically. His Bridgegate scandal hanging over his head. Just not appealing to Democratic voting females.

Gen. David Petraeus, both as a military commander and then CIA director, is a world-famous authority on terror and counter-insurgency -- which will become a huge issue in future elections. But Obama operatives destroyed General Petraeus because they knew he would be formidable opponent as a Republican VP in 2012 or 2016. Very shrewd, ruthless move by Obama. So DP is not an option for Trump anymore.

Gen. Stanley MacCrystal - see Patreaus. He doesn't seem to be interested in politics, may be being blackmailed over "war-crimes" committed in Iraq. Again, give credit to Obama's forward-thinking: his thugs took out potential threats and future competitors ahead of time. GOP could learn a lot from Obama's laser-focused ruthlessness.

Who else? Marco Rubio? 3-4 years ago? Yes, Little Marco was a superstar in the making. Again, Florida is key to Republicans to win the WHite House..... But he got badly exposed as a choker under pressure starting with that 2013 water-bottle embarassment on live TV. Plus Rubio and Trump spilt so much bad blood, called each other such nasty names --> can you see all those Clinton ads quoting Rubio as calling Trump "a con man, a fraud"....????

Def. Sec. Bob Gates? Widely respected on security by both parties, but he's burned-out emotionally and is happy teaching in a university

Colin Powell? 10-20 years ago, would have been a helluva Running Mate. Maybe even first ever black POTUS himself. But in 2003, neocons set him by having him do their dirty work selling the Iraq War at the UN. Colin Powell's reputation destroyed. He felt betrayed and has been hating on GOP ever since. Even endorsed Democrat Obama in 2008. Getting to be too old, too.

Condolizaa Rice? - like Powell, is forever tained by Bush and the Iraq War. Highly overrated in her "expertise" on Russia, to be honest. Meh.

Ted Cruz? Even more bad blood with Trump than Rubio. Plus unlike the good-looking, reasonable Marco who would have appeal to average General Election voter --- Ugly Ted is a viewed as a radical and repulsive by most Americans (outside of hardcore Conservative, religious Primary electorate, that is)

Scott Walker? Would be nice for Wisconsin, but his stock plummeted when he choked early in the Primaries. Same as Rick Perry both in 2012 and 2016 election cycles. Got exposed as a lightweight. Very unimpressive debates. Lacking in intellectual depth of Newt Gingrich, or the foreign policy knowledge. Trump already faces those accusations from the media, last thing he needs is a mediocre running mate like Walker (who was his enemy in Wisconsin primaries, let's not forget, and did lots of damage to GOP nominee's chances)

Jeb? Again, like Chris Christie and Rubio, he is a former heavyweight who is long past his prime. Totally hates Trump. And as electorate has shown, most people in America want NO part of anyone named 'Bush' -- fairly or not, that's just reality.

Kasich? Yes, Ohio is just as important as Florida. But this guy utterly lacks in charisma, and doesn't like Trump, either. I guess Donald could overlook some things -- and pick Kasich as a last resort. But it would just that: if all other options fail. Color me uninspired.

Scott Brown? Another decent fall-back option. But NOT a HR. Brown ran in a very liberal state, so he had to take positions which would alienate him to Conservative, religious, Tea Party and Libertarian voter groups --- all of whom already view Trump with a suspicious eye (and make no mistake about: Donald needs all those groups to turn out in November, or he's toast against Clinton-Soros Machine)

Rand Paul? Appeals to Millenial voters, but unfortunately not as much as Bernie Sanders does. And Bernie will endorse Hillary. Again, Rand Paul has the same problem as his father: he's seen as a kook by most people, so his General Election appeal is inherently limited.

Another thing: picking VP as only part of Trump's challenge. But unless he scrambles all his resources to build a MASSIVE GOTV infrastructure & ground-game - and also learns how to sound much more professional, avoiding saying some of the stupid, offensive shit as in the Primaries.... none of this will matter

From the list only Sessions as far as I know.

There are a lot of people here that suggest he needs to know about Judge Jeanine.

He already knows about her. They're old friends. I really like Sessions. He is very smart and loves his constitution.

Sessions and Ernst are the only good ones.
 Quoting: Cigarette_Smoking_Man

So you like Ernst? That's reassuring, I would like to see him pick a woman to go at Hillary. Can you tell us anything in particular you like about her?
 Quoting: Mehitable Adams

Ernst ran as a TEA party candidate and immediately went soft. Thumbs down.

Sessions would be decent. He said no earlier. Maybe he has changed his mind.

Say what you will about Gingrich, but the guy is an action taker and gets things done. Trump is an action taker, too, so he might like him a lot.

Now that he's been getting regular speaking time on Fox News, Ben Carson has sorta come out of his shell and is sounding more self-assured.

Might be a good VP strategy IMO

Not a bad idea, actually.

Pam Bondi or Tulsi Gubbard.

If only they had a Hispanic last name from some distant relative or something... bullseye on election day.

Those who are suggesting Old Ugly Fat White Men... do not understand how superficial voters are, especially in the Age of Facebook.

What good does it do Donald to pick Sessions... if they lose in November, and Democrats cement the Us as a "1-Party Dictatorship"?

Seriously, think people

So we understand that Trump may soon be announcing his VP pick and frankly, I don't think the field is that impressive, with the exception of Sessions. Maybe I just don't know enough about the others to comment adequately so please fill in the blanks for us with what you know about some of these governors!

Senator Bob Corker, Tenn - Helped Obama with the Iran deal. That's all I need to know.

Gov Chris Christie, NJ - Obama hugging liberal, but smart and sharp prosecutor. Not a great choice but I can live with him.

Sen. Joni Ernst, Iowa - Don't really know anything about her.

Gov. Mary Fallin, Oklahoma - Ditto, except she stopped some abortion legislation

Newt Gingrich - Smart guy but ridden with heavy baggage, older than Trump, and real Establishment guy

Gov. Mike Pence - Indiana - Don't know too much about him.

Sen. Jeff Sessions, Alabama - Everyone's favorite I think, esp about immigration.

I think that's the whole list at this point. I think his best pic in general would be a woman to openly attack Clinton and possibly Warren if she runs, but I don't know if either of these two is up for the job. I desperately hope he doesn't pick Gingrich - or Corker.

So what do you folks think? Please give any info you have about these pics - or if there's anyone you might realistically recommend. You never know who might be reading.....
 Quoting: Mehitable Adams

I heard on our local news that Paul Manafort wants Pence. Sessions is also my first choice, but I don't have a problem with Pence. My mom knew him when she worked at the County Government Center. Many of Pence's views are similar to Trump's. [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)]
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70428093

Didn't Pence fold to some liberals over abortion or something recently?

I really like Ben Carson. I guess it's because I'm a nurse and he's a surgeon but he is so highly intelligent and able to speak about things without getting rabid.

 Quoting: Mehitable Adams

I don't think it matters if the VP is male or female. It's been shown in the past that even when Republicans choose a female VP they still lose. I realize that McCain was not a good candidate and he didn't fight back when the media shredded Palin, but Republicans seem to always be at a disadvantage in elections. Bush won because the SC decided on his side.

I hate to sound negative but I am so sick of the liberal press lately that I could scream. Liberals are dishonest and treacherous. They will fight tooth and nail to get a criminal in the presidency.

Judge Jeanine may be the best candidate for Attorney General, also she could be a Supreme Court Justice, hell I still think Trump should use her as Vice President.
She works at Fox News and she knows what's going on, I think she can take care of the dip sticks so Trump can take care of the wall, jobs, security and more things to make America great again.

Does she take dick good, though? Many women who served in the military, are secret lesbians.

That's a problem with Pam Bondi, too. when she was young, she was probably crazy-hot (for a politician). So you know she rode and sucked Chad cock, like there is no tomorrow. Could Hillary's army of private detectives and friendly NSA/FBI plants discover all of Pam Bondi's dirt. She's been divorced twice, also.

If only we could combine:

-Pam Bondi's looks
-Tulsi Gubbard's minority status...
-Newt Gingrich's intellectual firepower & experience... -Ted Cruz's 'True Conservative" bona-fides
-Chris Christie's deceptively eloquent "blue collar" charisma (see: his efforless take-down of Rubio in a debate)

---> we'd have a perfect running mate for Trump.

Every damn one of these is a LEAD CLUNKER. Sinks him in ONE SHOT.

THe only hope that Trump has is for an inspired choice, BUT an inspired choice will actually win it for him.

He needs to think logically.

- It has to be someone with Government experience.
- Two wings of Government are UTTERLY distrusted by the public, so it HAS to be someone from the Judiciary.
- It has to be a woman due to his past comments.
- It has to be Latino due to his past comments.
- It has to be someone with no contraversy and is admired by the public.
- It has to be a Republican
- It has to be someone from a SWING STATE either in the South or West.

The VP should have a 2-syllable name so it sounds good with Trump

Trump-Gingrich
Trump-Walker
Trump -Christie
Trump-Sessions

Trump-Pence sounds too much like tuppence

Not a bad idea, actually.

Pam Bondi or Tulsi Gubbard.

If only they had a Hispanic last name from some distant relative or something... bullseye on election day.

Those who are suggesting Old Ugly Fat White Men... do not understand how superficial voters are, especially in the Age of Facebook.

What good does it do Donald to pick Sessions... if they lose in November, and Democrats cement the Us as a "1-Party Dictatorship"?

Seriously, think people

Pam Bondi?????????????????????? Are you crazy?????????????

She's the one who railroaded Zimmerman even though she knew damn well the state had no case!! She is evil in many ways.
 Quoting: Booger Cancer

See, this is why you're a loser, as are most "hard-core" Conservatives, Conspiracists and Republican "Purists".

You are so wrapped into your own warped sense of self-importance and lack of discipline, sense of perspective, moderation of any kind... you CAN'T SEE FOREST FOR THE TREE

Oh sure, Pam Bondi is "only" a potential political superstar- one that will BOTH help Trump undo his horrible problem with women AND bring in younger (horny) men into Trump's camp.

Translation: Pam Bondi if properly presented and coached up, could be that "home-run" VP pick that Trump needs for a political Upset of a Century in November. Thus saving America's future.

But what do you and a few other hard-core, purist morons concentrate on? Some irrelevant sociopath vigilante-wannabe George Zimmerman! Yeah, boo Pam Bondi because she dared to disagree with your bullshit knee-jerk defense of that fugly creep (in all fairness, Trayvon Martin was a piece-of-shit thug, but that's besides the point)

No wonder Republicans are dying and so is America. They have this truly GOLDEN chance to Take the Country Back from the impending Clinton-Soros Orwellian Dictoratorship.... and yet what do Republicans do? Engage in cannibilizing and petty feuds.

Libertarians hating on Trump. Tea Party hatin' on Moderate Establishment. Moderate Establishment hating on Trump. NeoCons hating on Trump. NeoNazi and Dylan Root types thinking they are doing Trump a favor by publically associating themselves with his campaining, thus poisoning it. Evangelicals hating on Atheist Republicans and vice Versa. South vs. North. East vs. West. Trump picking fights with Megyn Kelly, Glen Beck, George Will, Krauthammer and just about everybody else. Etc, etc et cetera.

All while Rome (America) burns.

. Keep it up. Choose your obscure, old ugly White Guy like Newt or Sessions or Corker for VP. The press and social media will quickly paint him as an extremist and Hillary will win in a landslide in November.

Idiots.

Trump-Bondi
Trump-Tulsi
Trump-Trump (Ivanka)

Those are the ONLY viable choices. Everybody else just doesn't have a big upside.

Democratic Machine already has such a big demographic & organizational-financial advantage... Trump can't play it safe.

Yes, if Trump doesn't quickly and massively PROFESSIONALIZE his entire campaign... it won't matter who he picks for VP.

But playing it safe with some 'Uncool Old White Male' running mate? Forget it.
