Slow Down, Save Time, and Head in the Right Direction
We all have big changes in our lives that are more or less a second chance.
-Harrison Ford

From "How to Be Happy, Dammit: A Cynic's Guide to Spiritual Happiness" by Karen Salmansohn:

It doesn't matter how fast you get there, if you're heading in the wrong direction.

So...you must slow down and see where you are going, buddy!

Though you should think instead of calling it "slowing down" it should be called "slowing up" because when you take your time, you save time.

"Slowing up" means you do not live in the past (with old habits), nor in the future (with not-so-great expectations), but here, in the moment-where the true you-and your true power-and the answers to your problems-can all be found.

You remember back to a dance class you took in your gym. The teacher showed you this complicated dance that you were expected to learn by hour's end. You remember thinking: "Yeah, right, lady." But then she slowed down the music-played it at a much slower tempo-so you could see the steps weren't so mindboggling-or feetboggling. And sure enough within 60 minutes you were a regular Fred Astaire.

You know the same approach works for the complicated fancy footwork it takes to switch out of a bad relationship or a bad career. At first glance it looks like so much effort. Then when you relax you can see what the Buddhists see.the 1,000 mile journey begins with 1 step. grouphug

A nice change of pace and point of view, Josie! rose

The year's end always seems to be a hectic time ~ changes coming, perhaps with the calendar, and often it is a time of new beginnings.

But relaxing and taking the first step, realizing that all the ones that follow are simply single steps ~ can take the pressure down a few notches.

I use the analogy:

How do you eat an elephant?

One bite at a time.

Josie......

Well I have no problem taking things slow any more, But I'm not sure whether I'm truely more patient or time is going so fast it just makes me look that way.

Hey Daj!

Are yall ready to emerge from the back end of 2006..... I know sometimes I have an odd perspective.

Hi Scimitar.

This year, like many flew! We have to try not let the woes of 2006 carry on to 2007. I do feel we become more patient as we get older. In some things I am sure.

Is it my imagination or is your AV trying to unzip those jeans? Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining just asking.

Time is most certainly relative in nature.

Edit 2006 will be a good year to get past..... At least from my point of view.

LOL oops...it does look like she is pulling at her zipper...but no I thought the same when I first found it...she has her fingers pulling on the band of the jeans. If you saw a close up you would get a peek of her belly button.
