Mods: Reporting Spam

One thing I would like to ask the mods is...

Please define 'Hijacking of thread' for us...

and I want to know something also...

Mods, would you ban me if I spam your threads with hate, disrespect, and personal attacks towards you and the participating readers/posters?

Then start a thread and ASK IT THERE.

Why don't we try an experiment. As a not logged in AC, someone please report this thread as abusive. I will see if anything shows in the next few minutes. If reports are made, they are not ignored. But, I'm not sure if AC's can actually make reports.

Hijacking a thread is when someone other than the OP takes over a thread and takes it somewhere that it was not intended to go.


And yes. If you spam any thread with hate, disrespect and personal attacks, you will be banned.

I think the Mods, themselves do an excellent job of keeping spam off the board.

I haven't seen one ad for viagra or to buy an electric toothbrush.

That's funny... because there are certain individuals who are doing exactly that. They are disrespectful, and they spam personal attacks.

In the Extraterrestrial thread for the past 20 pages or so and many more times here and there, there has been hate, disrespect and personal attacks towards the readers/participants AND it was brought up many times. And YES these attacks are off topic. There was even a thread about it, but nothing was done... why is that?

When this was brought up, the OP who filed the complaint was told to shut up, grow a back bone blahblahblah etc... by the mods themselves but if the mods were attacked in the same way, why do THEY get to ban the attackers?

Yes this is an open forum for free speach and for sharing views and opposing views but you said it yourself, 2XsecretAgent...



Their personal attacks and disrespectful posts are off topic and are considered spam and hijacking...


What I want is another investigation please...

I believe several mods looked into this matter and it has been handled.

Then I believe it is happening AGAIN...

and it does fall into what you would consider as hateful, disrespectful, personal attacks, spam and hijacking. Completely off topic. No sharing of opposing views whatsoever other than just to be disruptive and disrespectful.

It'd be nice if a mod would look into it again... unless it IS OK to spam hate, disrespect and personal attacks... please say so.

Disrespectful, hateful SPAM SPAM SPAM and many more...

It is also helpful to use the "Report Abusive Post" selection on the post you find abusive.

By doing so the reported reply will appear with your comments and a link that will navigate to the post in question.

Of course, this will only work for logged in persons until the bug is fixed.

Like I said, it's happening all the time and needs to be taken care of... again...

THANK YOU SO MUCH. There is so much spam and it would be so difficult for me to post each and every thread that is off topic, hateful, and disrespectful but it is happenning all the time with the same posters and I will bring it up if mods agree with me that this is not allowed.

Thanks for the help on this one 2X I have been personaly monitoring this thread, however I did go away for the holidays and I am now playing catch up at work and obviously there was some real spamming going on. Also due to the size of the thread I have deleted some replies that were just plain crap, but not truely spam, however.....

We are not going to crush your challengers, you guys on this thread have been going on about this for several weeks. Spam will be removed, but as far as your detractors go, the posters are going to have to deal with it. Don't turn us into the thought shaping police because nobody wants to go there.

That bullshit is gone and that turd poster went with it. I've told you guys on this thread already, you have some registered users there and you have got to lend a hand on reporting junk like that, looks like the report abusive is going to be opened for AC's so that'll help, like Daniel said, time and page helps us a lot in finding and eliminating it, we can't read every thread or the front page will become a Viagra festival, so help us out by letting us know, Thanks.

I was thinking of becoming a paying member of this site but after the demonstration of 4 mods on a certain thread late last night, I changed my mind. If that's how the mod squad takes care of spam and harrassment then I'm just going to keep my money and donations. GLP has become a forum board for trolls. When any good thread is posted, it literally gets run down to the ground by spammers and trolls after a couple of pages. Mods have proven yesterday that they are no different from spammers and trolls. It's sad to see that GLP never was... I can't believe Trinity allows this. If any non-mod or AC spams and harrasses any MOD, they would be banned automatically so why treat anyone any different? I'm just glad I didn't become a paying member and I know no one cares either and I don't care. Just so you guys know, GLP has a lot to gain from paying members.
