I've been in for 10 years, getting out due to physical and psychological issues from combat and being misdiagnosed for over 4 years. I fought hard not to go on ssri meds but my depression and anxiety b came too much. I recently tapered down and was off lexapro for 2 weeks and the withdrawals were so bad that I had to resume taking it. I absolutely hate being a slave to these meds but until I'm out I can't explore alternative treatments. I'd rather have my symptoms any day over the withdrawal effects. I caught it just in time though, it was really scary knowing I couldn't control how I was feeling because it was chemically induced. I pray that more will be done in the future to expose what's happening to us, so that lives may be saved. I nearly became one of the "22" a couple times, and by the grace of God I'm still here. But when making an argument about relationships, you need to first realize that correlation does not equal causation. For example: there is a correlation between ice cream sales and drowning deaths in summer months. Obviously ice cream does not cause drownings. It is the summer heat that is the "hidden variable" that causes more people to buy ice cream, and more people to swim, meaning more people will inevitably drown. I do believe SSRI's are unhealthy. I just know that logically proportions aren't s great argument. Only hard evidence. |
