Dear everyone,

I am in a terrible spiritual bind. This bind can be traced back, in particular, on May 19, 2010, I accepted a "Merlin-me" consciousness state (the note I wrote back then says I "chose" it; it also ) under the influence of cannabis, that seems to have influenced my life afterwards. I wrote my PhD thesis mostly on cannabis. It seems it resulted in me having access to more consciousness than I would normally have had. I do not feel I had any evil intentions. But some events led to me engaging in massively self-destructive behaviour, including smoking (I only once smoked a cigarette before the age of 32... then and especially during my time in Poland, I turned into a chain smoker) and more consumption of weed and hashish. All of this, it seems, was borne out of a feeling of guilt and shame, and this self-destructive behaviour I can only regret.

I am not perfect or without sin, and neither omnipotent nor omniscient. I experience my own consciousness as a part of reality, which has been expanded a number of times by various mind-altering substances, and I also experience a greater source larger than my conscious mind, which is the source of logic and reason, and which contains all that is hidden from my conscious mind. This greater source, you can call God or something else.

I want to act out of love, I still do, because I care a lot about both humans and the non-human world around me. But I do not know anymore what my place is in this mystery. I faithfully believe there is still good in me.

For a bright future, I believe (in a sense of reason based on the knowledge acquired by my senses and by education) humanity's course has to be altered radically changing now. I managed to radically change my own life two weeks minus one day ago, having been almost clean for that time. If humanity makes a similarly radical change, I have faith that a catastrophe of our planet can still be averted.

Almost everything that I have experienced during the last month has been connected, in my mind, to these spiritual realities in some way.

We need both reason and emotion, to guide our planet's future. I do not know entirely what to do, except to show myself as I truly am. This is what I am doing now. It feels like there is no time to lose. Today I read an article fantasizing about murdering of millions of people, as the only solution to the climate problem. This horrified me. I do not wish to see such great suffering bestowed upon the earth.

I do not wish to put myself above anyone else. Nor do I wish to choose one religion over another. But I wish to accept the love and grace that can be found in all of these religions. It feels like seeds of truth are to be found in many, although recently I felt frightened mostly by the story of Judaism and Christianity. I felt frightened because of the Bible passage calling blasphemy against the Holy Ghost an unforgivable sin. At one point I felt I committed it, but only briefly, and at this moment I am not sure anymore. I feel truth in it, but have a difficult time with the great division of churches and religious groups, between which it seems almost impossible to choose.

I also feel a deep gratitude to the people around me, and the kindness and love they showed me. This is meaningful beyond words to me.

May peace prevail on earth.

I also have to thank the saving grace of Jesus Christ for overcoming my addictive behaviours.
