NWA 11119 is an igneous meteorite, which means it was formed by the cooling and solidification of magma or lava (which is what magma is called once it reaches a planet's surface). At 4.6 billion years old, NWA 11119 is the oldest igneous meteorite ever discovered. (Srinivasan explained that several nonigneous meteorites are even older.)

Overall, the composition of NWA 11119 is strikingly similar to the material that makes up Earth's crust, the outer layer of rock that forms a solid shell around the planet. That's why the researchers suspect that NWA 11119 is a crustal rock from an asteroid with a crust layer that formed in a way similar to how Earth's crust formed.

Additional chemical analyses revealed that the meteorite closely resembled two other unusual meteorites — NWA 7235 and Almahata Sitta — suggesting that all three space rocks may have come from the same parent body, Srinivasan said.

There is still much scientists don't understand about how planets are built, but a discovery like this one can help researchers understand "what an earlier version of Earth might have looked like," Srinivasan said.

"There's still so much to learn about how Earth's crust could have formed," she said. "We just scraped the surface here."

Re: Duat do what
Had many dreams with chats and this one to post on glp because of the topic. It seemed like a quarry because there was a huge cliff where everyone was standing on with three cranes with three bodies lifted almost in line with the cliff height like they were going over towards the people. There was a guy up the crane with the body far left from crowds perspective. So the bodies seemed like a grown family. They were covered and encapsuled with a rich brown soft type dirt. The guy on the crane was yacking at the audience and then had a long pole and pushed some dirt clumps off around the upper body and the arms started moving along with the head. Crowd was amazed. I then woke up wondering why no perma frost.

Funny enough, one of the first things noticed was stone sphinxes found on display in front of newer temples, private gardens of officials and so he wondered where they all came from. Chance had it became upon a sphinx buried all but the head in Sakkara connecting it between Cairo and Alexandria. The inscription found on it was to apis the bull of Memphis. Instantly brought to mind the lost alley of the sphinxes. At that time never found. So he began his search there for it bringing 140 sphinxes to light in his dig. Today is called the Serapeum/serapeion after god Serapis.

The alley of the sphinxes at one time connected to two temples.

The marking on the bulls forehead is the white triangle meaning he is sacred among his kind.

Lithuania's 'Great Synagogue' Fell to the Nazis, But Archaeologists Have Uncovered It

The bimah (pronounced bee-mah) was a raised platform at the geometrical center of the square-shaped sacred building, where passages from the Torah, the Jewish holy book, were read aloud. Congregants would have marveled at this structure during services; the bimah was made with green and brown bricks, in a "Tuscan Baroque" style that was popular when the Great Synagogue was built, in the 1630s, Seligman said.

"Jerusalem of the North"

Jewish people began moving into Vilnius in the 14th century, when the King of Lithuania first gave them permission to live there, Seligman said. The site archaeologists are now excavating has been used as a synagogue by the city's Jewish community since the 1440s.

Incredible Hulk? Nah, This Glowing, Green Light in the Night Sky Is a Comet

A gigantic, green-tinged comet is currently smashing its way through the night sky, leading some people to dub it the "Incredible Hulk comet." Tomorrow (Aug. 7), the celestial object will make its closest approach to Earth, according to Sky and Telescope magazine. This is likely the first time the comet has ever come into the inner solar system.
