The mortal men utilize the immortals and vice versa. In this instance, they both were riding the anger wave of singular focus which always leads to one belief when in corruption and that is abuse of women/men and immortals. The chances given were many and each time they failed to change their ways with last straw being their one belief. As observed with each chaos occurrence what kept happening when the habitat was stepped into. This habitat being man made structures agriculturally sustained running program. The shameful practices of a sacred tool were noted by their anger and tradition by long past arose out of incoherent minds.
So the precious gift they most value was to keep it going.
