HEADS UP! Are they are getting ready for Martial Law in Missouri?
This is a letter written to a gubernatorial candidate in Missouri. It is from a county clerk in a neighboring county. I have removed the contact information for publishing on the Internet.

Dear Mr. Brunner,
I was stuck at the courthouse Friday evening and didn't get by to Penelope's to see you. Too much paperwork.

Anyway, I wanted to let you know about a curious and concerning development of the last week in my county clerk's job: local planning commissions are collecting "Deployable Asset Inventory" informational surveys from municipal and county governments and having it put into a database at the state level--perhaps SEMA or Department of Public Safety in general?--but also sharing this with federal agencies, particularly Department of Homeland Security.

The ask me not to include items purchased with DHS funds; further, they state that they only want equipment listed that the county would be willing to 'deploy'. Among other things, they want heavy construction equipment/vehicles, portable generators, pumping equipment, medical equipment, mobile command centers, temporary shelter supplies, and things like traffic control supplies ('Jersey Barriers') included on the list. They want VIN's on vehicles, purchase prices, and locations these items are kept. The report is due 8/1/16, which among other things, is extremely poor timing for an election authority. More worrisome, to me, is their intent. This does not seem to fit with the stratification of power framework of the Constitution.
I have one question: does the federal government have the authority to commandeer these resources?

Sounds like an inventory request, which is not out of the ordinary. Police Depts. do it and so does the Nat. Guard. In case of an emergency, flood, earthquake, etc., they have to know where assets are, human or machine, or otherwise. People don't understand that the NG is expected to mobilize within hours to these situations. Police Depts and emergency response units are expected to respond immediately. There has to be strategic placement, demographically and geographically. You would need different assets/equipment near the MIssissippi than you would central Missouri during a flood or earthquake--common sense. The problem comes with co-mingiling between the feds and state--and there is a problem when the feds are selling military equipment to local LE--this did not start with Obama...this started in the 1980's.

It is kind of like when people spazz out when they see military convoys on the road--they freak out--and it is usually the beginning of the month when Nat. Guard units are drilling.

No doubt there is overreach with DHS--but we've allowed that to happen. Thank you George W. Bush. That was his baby.
