If Costa Rica was ever an island there'd be no need for the Panama Canal!
Mandala effect is just something experienced by people who have convincing, but erroneous memories. It's always existed, we just didn't have a name for it.
However, thinking that Costa Rica used to be an island is plain old ignorance. (To put it politely).
