No, I'm not a shaman in the true sense of the word. A shaman is a person that assumes a very special role in his/her community as a helper, using shamanistic techniques. This is not what I'm doing for a living although I try to help people around me to the best of my abilities, like most of us try to I guess.

I'm just a person that sometimes use shamanistic techniques to gain knowledge and the leverage needed to solve problems for others around me. Like any "real shaman", I never use the techniques to gain personal advantage or to cause harm to anyone.

Regarding dreams, some of them are indeed Power-full dreams in which work can be performed that is of the same kind that can be done during shaman journeying. Lucid dreaming seems to be the name many people use for these kinds of dream states.

You must also know that there is essentially no dogma in shamanism, different people "doing shamanism" have very different and personal experiences. You just need someone real physical experienced person to get you going and making the first contacts with "trusted beings" in the spirit world. The most important teachers you will have from that moment onwards are likely to be beings residing in the spirit world.

There are many crooks posing as shaman teachers, you recognize them quite easily in that they will charge you big money. However, you may be lucky to find short weekend courses you can take at rather low cost, basically just for food and lodging, that will get you started if you feel this could be something for you. Keep your eyes and ears open and you will find such opportunities, be critical and check out references and reputation because it is a very lucrative business with "mental development".

In principle, it is possible to embark on a shamanistic path all by yourself but it may be difficult and frustrating without guidance.

PS. Interesting dream experience you had! I don't recognize the symbol though. Typically it is the receiver of symbols and signs in dreams that are the only ones who can decode their meaning. Sometimes we can help each other decode the messages but in this case I'm afraid I have no clues to give you.

infact i will disclose a strange experience that happend to me a few years back whilst listening to binaural beats.

I will try and make it short.
I downloaded from a p2p a hemisync holosync Delta waves track.
Being a teenager and at university at the time i was just trying it out to see if it could really do anything, so i put it on loop and went to sleep.
That night i had a very strange dream like experience.

Firstly i was in a black void. Then there was a large gold symbol shown to me, then i was somehow given the ablity to read this symbol all most as if it was a holographic 3D symbol. When i read the symbol it was like learning all the science in the universe instantly. For a short while i felt i knew all knowldege of the unvierse, and all my human problems meant nothing. I was just so happy at the realization of everything and that there was nothing to worry about, the universe is perfect.
Anyway at that point i woke up, and as soon as i tried to recall the knowledge it was all gone,, i could only remember the feeling of knowing it.
Like when you wake up from a flying dream and feel angry that you cant fly in real life, i was angry that i could nologer read the symbol.

But heres the crazy part, by chance i came accross the symbol that came to me in this experience, i had never seen or knew about this symbol before, but it actually exists.

Do not use binaural sounds without the manifested presence of your spiritual Soul Guard as some powerful dark influences may have just your spirit to deal with before taking charge... You just proved to me that you are not judging people by their appearances. This was one of the most important lessons I learned in the spirit realms, and my choice of avatar is my odd way of sharing that experience at this time.

I think you are right that natural sounds like drums can be a safer, although not as effective, way of reaching the desired state of deep trance- at least for some people like myself. I'm sure there was a reason why I - or a guarding spirit perhaps - aborted my binaural experience. I will not change the ways I'm used to and feel safe and comfortable with.
