I attended Hoagland's huge Phoenix Lights conference at the Phoenix Convention Center in July 1997. Probably about 2,000 attendees there.

These UFO conferences are filled with modern-day con artists, preying on the gullible. That's not to say all of the general topics they discuss aren't real/legitimate. But how these fruitcakes capitalize off events and add bullshit to them in the attempt to pad their pocketbooks...

Hoagland talked about tons of gold buried beneath Phoenix. And that's why the city was founded where it is. Never mind that the "Valley of the Sun" was settled millennia previous to European discovery by the Hohokam native Americans whom developed intricate systems of irrigation of the valley from the Salt and Gila Rivers which emanate from the White Mountains of eastern Arizona.
