On a later trip, I went to western China — Kashgar (Silk Road Town) and Urumqi, where the museum that houses the Tarim Basin mummies of the Taklamakhan Desert. There were three of them displayed under glass. Their hair, eyelashes, skin, and clothes were all preserved because of the arid environment they were found in. Also, they has small “tattoos” on their skin. There were signs that said, “No photos”, but I snuck 7 or 8 pics when the guards making the rounds left the room to check in the next room. Lol
