The veil can be lifted for the elect. The elect are those who seek the father and know the son. I don't mean people who attend churches. The church is the people. It cannot be contained within a building. For those who wish to understand, remember what Jesus did before he was able to do miracles. First, he listened to the father, understood the principles. Second, he was baptized. Third, he did not eat for forty days, also tempted, as we all are daily, for forty days, that means no food and no sin. Water is needed though. Know where you are? Cosmic Intelligence has given humans the means to penetrate mysteries, and breathing is one of these means. If philosophers applied themselves to the practice of conscious breathing, they would solve problems that are still only enigmas for them. The ability to think is linked to breathing. Even if the lungs do not act directly on the brain, they are an essential factor, since they contribute to the purification of the blood. And when the blood is pure, it irrigates the brain by depositing elements in it that help with mental work and, therefore, with meditation. Breathing exercises thus have a central role to play in the life of those who are spiritual, and they should organize the use of their time in such a way that they can do these exercises each morning before breakfast. After breakfast it is not the same; the movement of the lungs is hampered, and it can even be harmful. You should always do breathing exercises on an empty stomach or four or five hours after eating. But the best time is at sunrise, because through the breathing you can take in that precious quintessence from the air which the Indian yogis call prana. Prana is the basic energy of the cosmos, and it is at its most abundant in the morning at sunrise. In order to benefit from it we have to be attentive and focused, for with every breath of air God is also telling us, ‘Breathe, listen, and you will hear me speak.’

In the morning you are at the sunrise in order to receive the fruits of hope. Yes, so many times, through its light, warmth and life, the sun has given you hope to eat and drink. Too bad you have often abandoned this hope for discouragement! If you had not abandoned it, if you had not doubted or hesitated so much, you would have obtained much better results. Why not cling to thoughts that nourish and reinforce you? If you do not try to get out of the sad reality by which you feel assailed, you will really suffocate. You have to change something, at least inwardly, by telling yourself, 'Difficulties and suffering do not last. I am son of God or daughter of God, and God is preparing a luminous future for me.' This is what you must learn each morning at the sunrise.

Everywhere in space the sun sends out particles of great purity, and if you know how to concentrate on the sun you will be able to expel from your organism all kinds of used, dull matter and replace it with these new lively and luminous particles. This is another very useful exercise you can do in the morning as you meditate at sunrise. With all your heart, all your soul, try to take these divine particles and place them inside you, because as you do so, you will gradually renew the matter of your being and you will think and act like a son or daughter of God, thanks to the sun.

When you go out in the morning to the sunrise, remember that you are on your way to meet a being that is alive, just as all of nature around you is alive – birds, animals, trees and flowers. For life is the entire universe, including the infinite number of creatures inhabiting it, which are invisible but real. So, send them a greeting: tell them you are grateful to them for the clear morning and for all the living beings that are waking up. Know also that within nature, the living, conscious body to which we all belong, there is a multitude of entities ready to contribute to the evolution of humanity. Earth, water, air, fire and the entities that live within them have pledged before the Eternal to help all those working to become beings of peace, harmony and beauty. So, ask them to come and take part in bringing about God’s kingdom on earth. One day, billions of spirits will set to work on human hearts and minds, and heaven will recognize you as a builder of the new life, a wellspring, a son or daughter of God.

Earth, water, air and fire… The four elements that make up the matter of creation are also nourishment for humans. Each day they feed on earth and water, that is, on solid and liquid food, and the air they breathe also feeds them. As for fire, it is contained within these different forms of nourishment, but also in the sun’s warmth and light. Like all creatures, humans benefit from the sun’s warmth and light, but unconsciously. If they learned how to take them in consciously, this would be a source of extraordinary riches for them, for it is their true nourishment and the one they need the most, to sustain their life as well as their inspiration and joy. The sun is a food, and it is the best of foods. Why limit ourselves to earth, water and air? We have to learn to nourish ourselves with fire and light too, which is what we do at the sunrise. In the Zend Avesta it says that when Zoroaster asked the god Ahura Mazda what the first human beings fed on, the god replied, ‘They ate fire and drank light.’ So they drew on the life of the sun, which is fire and light.

Fire is the source of life, and because it holds the secret of eternal life, we must seek to know it, attract it and harmonize so we can become its friend. Watch the branches of a tree burn. The life contained in the wood is so precious because it comes from the sun. A tree is a living creature which knows not only how to fix air, water and fire for the formation of its roots, trunk and branches, but how to attract and accumulate solar energy. Make every effort, therefore, to become friends with fire. But while watching the branches burn, remember that it is in the sun that you will find true fire and the source of life. This is why I will never stop reminding you of the benefits the sun can bring us as it rises. In contemplating the sunrise, we seek to receive the living fluid which circulates in the universe, so that it may purify, strengthen and enlighten us.

We know gold in its solid state only. But, in fact, the metal we go in search of in the bowels of the earth exists at first in an igneous state. The sun’s rays come down through the air to reach the earth and penetrate it, and there they condense. So, the sun produces gold in its etheric state, and the earth condenses it. In the sun, gold is too volatile; it can only be condensed in the bowels of the earth, where particular materials capable of fixing it are found. And, in springtime, when you watch the sunrise, think of yourself as being a soil, in which the gold from the sun’s rays can come to deposit itself and settle.
