At a minimum they should all be psych evalled to weed out megalomaniacal maniacs, but that would pretty much disqualify most candidates. "God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787 |

It reminds me of a funny statement I read years ago about Gandhi. Some British viceroy asked him, "So, Mahatmaji, what does your Grace think about Western culture?" To which he quickly replied: "Yes, my Lord, I think it's a very good idea!" |

To which Gandhi replied, "I think it would be a good idea." The nuance is important: Gandhi was politely and slyly suggesting (rather accurately IMHO) that there wasn't any civilization yet in the West. |

Aha, thanks for the correction - yes exactly as you say; and if you see the post I was replying with this Gandhi anecdote, THATs precisely the idea I sought to convey. That (in echoing the statement by the poster), 'Not much point in testing potential candidates, because they'd all become disqualified;' ie. in Kali Yuga (preceding Kalki's Advent), sudras and less are elevated to the posts of executive head of state; and those who vote for such unqualified non-administrative heads of state, are similarly unqualified by way of remaining un cultured. So un cultured or uncivilized, yes, Gandhi hoped for the day when Vedic Culture would be transplanted to the West, and gradually we can experience a New Spiritual Age |

Every job I ever went for demanded a birth certificate (even a wedding certificate sometimes) Quoting: Anonymous Coward 41735999 Why not demand a birth certificate with the medical? I know, right?!??!!! It's absurd that those who support these govt workers by our sweat, have to prove ourselves bona fide and legit in every way, but the big big leaders just skate right in with no obligatory due diligence of their backgrounds and expected qualifications. Pretty outrageous |

The Constitution determines qualification. What we need is (a) an honest press (we need to push for laws to eliminate the Federal Communications Commission because it is the government that controls who can and cannot have a license to broadcast, which creates an oligopoly of the press), and (b) real accountability of those who are elected (we should be pushing for enforcement of the 10th Amendment and repeal of the 17th Amendment). |
