If your only child tragically died, and your wife was too old to have more kids, would you leave the wife to make babies with a younger woman? | |

I wouldn't personally. I think I could understand if someone did that. I don't think the ex wife would understand though. Be careful op, she may end up feeling so hurt by it that she does something reckless |

What if your wife can't have kids anymore after that? |

WTF dude, you think like a corporate box factory. No man, you don't. You continue to love the woman you joined. If she wants you to and you all agree well then..... I think you got a party. And go for it... Otherwise, go to bed and stop thinking out loud. |

He could consider adoption... or volunteering... or forging deeper uncle relationships... But I forgot, sometimes selfish people who would ever consider leaving the partner they pledged to stick it out with also have this weird selfishness about their genetic seed etc... Life is a spiritual war and no matter where we lay our head, we live in a warzone. There will be casualties. You do get to choose your side. I chose the Bright Side where my God fights for me. Others chose the Dark Side and fight for an entity that views them with disdain and discards them. |

What if your wife can't have kids anymore after that? I get what you are saying op. You can't just replace a 12 yr old though....or any child for that matter! I would be very surprised if it helped the guy in that way. What about the wife? She probably is already dying on the inside from loosing her child, knowing full well that's it for her now, to then have her husband leave, meet someone new and then replace her child??? I would say that woman would very much feel there is nothing left to lose...... May end up loosing her shit big time and killing the ex, his new Mrs and child.......? Put yourself in her shoes |

No it's not me, but I wonder how some guys might secretly feel about that situation. I just logged back on to offer condolences and couldn't believe I hadn't done so initially, I'm glad it's not you op It's an interesting question to throw out there though.......... I know women who would do it to their men, not cos they nasty but because having a child to some women is a compulsion.......a primal instinct they can't control. |

I'll let my teen stay with you for a week and you never want kids.....you're welcome Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71035808 Personally, I don't mind questions like this if they are purely hypothetical. Take a Philosophy class and people sit around and debate such things. There are other options. They think it might be possible to reverse menopause now (they had some success in Greece or something). And there are always surrogates and donor eggs and such. You can't replace a kid, but there are people who do get the desire to have another kid after losing one. If the guy really needs it to be his own biologically, I guess donor egg and a surrogate, if necessary. Otherwise, adoption or foster kid. That way, you'd get to raise another kid plus help out someone else who really needs it. And actually, a lot of marriages break up over tragedies, it's awful, but not out of the realm of what actually happens. I think it's more the marriage breaks down, though, and then the guy finds another wife and ends up having another kid. Like years later. Not that the guy purposely leaves just to have another kid. Don't forget that the father is also hurting and is also just as traumatized as the mother. Only a sociopath/psychopath/some other serious personality disorder could be so callous as to purposely leave just to get a new wife just to get a new kid. |

You could try to have both. There are women out there who want to have babies but don't have or don't want a husband. Find one and come to an agreement together. There's nothing wrong with wanting to pass on your genes, it's an innate drive. |

There is absolutely nothing in your genes so important that it's worth destroying a human you love just so you can make another dumb ape in your likeness. Didn't even consider a surrogate mother? Hope who ever takes this hypothetical path turns out to be shooting blanks. |

This is one of those questions that should be talked about before commitment. I know I did. I have never regretted sharing my shortfalls with my guy, he dosen't even see it like that. He loves me.
