A family pet was left with scars after thugs threw chemicals over him – while he was in his garden.

The unnamed dog, who is believed to be a border collie, had to be completely shaved by vets as they raced to treat his wounds on Friday.

His entire back was covered in blistering burns following the attack in Cork, Ireland.

After arriving at the vets, it was also discovered that the dog had holes in his sides which had been created after the thugs poked him with an iron through the fence.

Taking to social media, the animal’s devastated owner stated that it is frightening when ‘you can’t even let your own family dog out in the back garden without him being abused.’
