"Can't be changed willingly "
Perhaps...Apostle Paul says 'as some of you were'
Please look at Romans chapter 1 may or may not have been
written by the Apostle Paul but it is accepted as Scripture.
When people "choose" not to believe Jehovah God, he then "gives them over" and it is down to perdition ...unless they come to their senses and begin to obey again.
There are MANY examples TODAY of people reading God's Word and deciding To obey.
If you seek you will find "a pearl of great price" eternal LIFE.

I believe Paul was talking about a certain situation in I Corinthians. They were worshiping a pagan goddess in Corinth and the temple had both male and female prostitutes. To worship the goddess, followers had both hetero and homo sex with temple prostitutes. That act of pagan worship started as a choice for most, and it developed that desire in them.

In this day and age, I have met more than one Christian who has had unwanted same sex attraction. They didn't turn from God, they didn't go out as a teen and drink or be promiscuous...in other words, they didn't go out seeking it, but here they had this attraction. They have prayed for that to change and were frustrated.

That says to me that there are outside factors, and simply declaring it's a choice in every case because of a scenario Paul described is rather unfair, and it discounts a fellow human being's struggle that is different from yours.

It's an addiction.
Addictions can be a life-long battle; abstinence is the second step after handing one's life over to a higher power.

That is why it should not be normalized as a choice.
Once alcoholism sets in, as an example, drinking alcohol is never a choice.

I'm not making an argument for normalizing it, just trying to understand the root of it.

Interesting view on it being an addiction though. I think there may be elements of addiction IF the person has a sexual addiction, but I'm not sure that's the case carte Blanche. You see sexual addiction with men more than women, whether homo or hetero, but it is definitely rampant in the male gay scene.

In the case of women who have experienced childhood sexual molestation, it can be difficult, if not impossible, for the victims to trust those of the opposite sex (of the same sex of the person who violated them) so they fulfill the need for emotional and physical closeness with a "safe" same-sex partner. As such, I think the cause is multi-modal and can't be boiled down to one explanation overall. Again, we need to be careful of offering blanket explanations for things we've never experienced.

The "root" is often a disruption in the relationship with the parent of the same sex.

One woman I know who identifies as a lesbian had a medical doctor mother.

Was this woman molested?
I don't know, but I know one who was(mother MIA).

Another had been a prostitute/drug addict.

Somewhere there was a trauma and a child exposed to harm.

This is the root of acting-out behavior.

It's also a way to get attention and to create guilt in the family.

The child should have been protected.
