A United Nations panel has decided that Julian Assange’s three-and-a-half years in the Ecuadorian embassy amount to “arbitrary detention”, leading his lawyers to call for the Swedish extradition request to be dropped immediately.

this article I am linking about the UN is from months ago and no one has set him free.It is now 5 years and when the UN said it according to this article it was at 3.5 years. I dont see what the difference is right now. I only just noticed this when doing a google search to see if there was any news on him leaving the embassy. Not a mention even of this UN thing that you are posting that occurred last week.

So I have to say that it looks like there never was any enforcement of what the UN said before and there wont be now. The UN would need to enforce the law. I dont know how they do this. Press charges against the UK government? But how will he be free to move about?

This is always the problem with the UN issuing statements on what is right or wrong, no one jumps to attention and takes action.
