And just as an FYI - a Local web server is not going to pull up GLP, should the Internet be disabled. But, because the WISP network is geographically located to its customer base by 'line-of-sight' it will allow for a BBS (bulletin board service) and connect every 'user' to it that is connected to the WISP. The WISP can also hand out www pages/.html so that there is local information ...
Quoting: Ozark Granny Question: If they kill internet as we know it, can the users (people) make a "peasant networks" using local radios, personal wifis/routers and blue-tooth? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72896896 This IS the "peasants network"! And it was 'touted' by Aneesh Chopra, then, the U.S. Chief Technical Officer as "More bang for the buck" ... Yet very little of the 'stimulus' monies went towards this technology! With the $7.2B that they awarded other ISP's, WISPs could have networked the entire U.S.! They really 'ticked' me off, as my company was involved in this process, so I know from personal experience, and that is why I 'suspect' a secondary network was built.
