Hurricane Hermine ,!!!updated pg30 | |
azzila User ID: 70580194 United States 09/02/2016 07:38 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | GFDL, NGFDL and HWRF models all have Hermine moving West toward Virginia / Maryland on Sunday. Only the NGFDL has Hermine making landfall again, GFDL predicts Hermine right on the coast, but just offshore. Possibility of 2nd landfall. According to the intensity forecast, both GFDL and HWRF predict possible upgrade to a weak Cat-1 hurricane by Sunday afternoon. Hope everyone there keeps an eye on the storm. This is what I am concerned about. If it comes into the bay, that's going to suck. I'm south of Richmond, our local guys are saying we will get nothing, but I'm not so sure... For sure. That's where I am, next to the bay . The real question is, do you even doodle Bro? |

It really could be a worst case scenario event. Thankfully it may be cat 1 at most and not higher, but the flooding impact alone could be catastrophic. (Not trying to sensationalize, it's just so many people put 100% faith in the local mets, and I'm positive they are only like 20% spot on all year) Oldmotherhubbardglp (at) live.com ~mistakes are proof that you are trying~ ~be kind to unkind people, for they are the ones that need it the most~ |

Ellicott City just took a severe beating from a major flood only a few weeks ago, and are still rebuilding. Flooding now might erase that town, and it would be a major loss. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 54153621 United States 09/02/2016 08:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Tropical Storm Hermine moves into Carolinas, heavy rain forecast 9/2/16 (CNN) Much of the Carolinas was being drenched by rain Friday afternoon as Tropical Hermine slid up the East Coast after leaving hundreds of thousands without power in Florida. Forecasters with the National Weather Service said as many as 7 inches of rain could fall, and in isolated areas it could be more than that. A flash flood watch was issued for northeast South Carolina and southeast North Carolina though Saturday morning. [link to www.cnn.com] ------ |

This could turn into a coastal storm event of historic significance for shoreline areas as it may stall and batter the beaches with high water and battering waves for several tide cycles. [link to www.washingtonpost.com (secure)] ------ There's that 'historic' word again. But days of battering will take it's toll. Ocean City MD lost a big chunk of dune protecting the beach over the winter, and haven't recovered from it. Hope they made a lot of money this summer.... |

This could bring levels of destruction to the coast similar to or worse than Sandy. [link to www.usatoday.com] ----- |
