Why does anyone have to do anything they don't feel like? Professors need to STFU and only talk to the people who pay them to spout drivel.

It would be very sad for everyone to lose their own culture. When we visit Europe, it's so special to see different places and cultures and food! It would be so sad for the world to be one culture. As the world gets smaller, we have already lost so much I think.

Sounds like a typical academic brain fart:

-The professor fancies himself as an out-of-box thinker.

-The professor believes in true equality: no culture is inherently better than another.

-As a result, he gets the idea that integration is in trouble because it's a two-way street, and so far only the migrants have been expected to integrate.

-His hypothesis is that by making the larger native population "integrate" to the migrants, instead, we can have a bigger impact.

-The hypothesis flatters his ego (out-of-box thinking) and fits his cherished belief in the equality of cultures. I can almost hear him making an argument like this: "What's wrong with changing our way of life if it improves the quality of living for all? Nothing. There's nothing in the western/German culture we couldn't live without. In fact, it's our moral obligation to integrate!"

If this is true the German professor is a sick fuck who deserves extra judicial treatment.

Sounds like the professor is having a hard time putting up with his or her new work environment and job.
They are not coping with their new work requirements or job duties.
They look at the others around them with seethe, for the stress they themselves feel, from their new disgruntled career and life.
Too twiggy brained to realize they are entrapped and they can not change it.
Probably go postal on them someday or their own self.
Because the environment will not transform for a whim.
They should just carry on in twiggy brains world and grow numb towards it.

The migrants will certainly bring their own culture with them and in time if things go well they will bring their food and customs into the mainstream and friendships will be made and barriers broken down.
