hatch battener User ID: 180259 United States 01/11/2007 09:08 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Huge wind storms battered Seattle, last week there was a 110 mph wind gust from just a regular storm front, here in Minnesota winds have been gusting 30 mph three days in a row. There has been some speculation on this forum, that recent solar activity might have pushed the jet stream closer to the ground. I think it might have to do with global warming in general, the warmer it's getting, the windier it's getting. |

mrs mathers User ID: 180350 Australia 01/11/2007 09:26 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Some news from down under, for those who are interested... Australia has experienced it's most severe drought in i dunno how long but it's a long while i'm sure. All across the states of OZ there has been next to no rain for the last few years and our reservoirs are on about 25% capacity on average. We too are experiencing high knot winds and very high temperatures which last for days with no relief, and as per our normal (huh!) standards that is strange... usually we have a cool change but these days they're few and far between. I also have relatives in Eastern Europe with whom I have regular contact, who have been saying that their average summer temps have been steadily rising for the past 4 years and they are now experiencing record-breaking degrees of heat. Also, for a place which has had snow for as long as I have been alive, my grammy is now telling me that it has stopped snowing in the city and metro areas and now only snows in the alps. I dunno what's going on, but it's interesting to me to note comments from other parts of the world and compare the different climate condition changes of recent years. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 180383 United Kingdom 01/11/2007 10:38 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yeah it's windy here, same old crap weather - however people generally will comment on anything a little extraordinary out of boredom and awkward quietness. Still doesn't change the fact that this weather is how it has always been for years and is more of a chatterbox nuisance than to live and let live. In my opinion. |
