Comet 67P Contains Numerous Fossil Cells and Tissues.
Last updated on Sept. 11, 2016
Fossilized cells from Comet 67P are the round particles on the right hand side of the following image taken by Rosetta spacecraft. These round cells contain organic macromolecules (see news reports below). Only life can produce such large molecules (see definitions below). Comet 67P itself could not have created biological cells or tissues (see addendum of Sept. 9). The cells and tissues should have originated from Mars as mentioned in eleven previous posts in [link to wretchfossil.blogspot.tw]

News reports:
1. Rosetta Blog:( [link to blogs.esa.int]
““Our analysis reveals carbon in a far more complex form than expected,” remarked Hervé Cottin, one of the authors of the paper reporting the result that is published in Nature today. “It is so complex, we can’t give it a proper formula or a name!””
"“The organic signatures of seven particles are presented in the paper, which the COSIMA team say are representative of the two hundred plus grains analysed so far.”"
“The carbon is found to be mixed with other previously reported elements such as sodium, magnesium, aluminium, silicon, calcium and iron. It is bound in very large macromolecular compounds similar to the insoluble organic matter found in carbonaceous chondrite meteorites that have fallen to Earth, but with a major difference: there is much more hydrogen found in the comet’s samples than in meteorites.”
“From analyses of meteorites and laboratory simulations, the team was also expecting to identify a wide diversity of organic material in Comet 67P/C-G, ranging from very small molecules to heavy (or ‘high molecular weight’) organics.”
2. Article: High-molecular-weight organic matter in the particles of comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko ( [link to www.nature.com]

My comment: Above-mentioned organic matters are post-solar rather than pre-solar, because no molecules can form organic macromolecules without the involvement of life.

Added on Sept. 9, 2016: Rosetta’s COSIMA Instrument Collected Tissue Remains.
COSIMA is the instrument used in the discovery of the above-mentioned fossil cells. The instrument also collected and imaged tissue remains as reported in the following post in June 2015: Tissue Remains Collected from Comet 67P ( [link to wretchfossil.blogspot.tw]

Added on Sept. 10: Definitions of low/high molecular weights and macromolecules.
Low molecular weight: lighter than 900 daltons. Molecules lighter than 900 daltons are called small molecules . In astronomy, complex organic molecules refers to molecules with multiple carbons, such as amino acids, which are no heavier than 205 daltons. Simple organic molecules are those lighter than 100 daltons.
High molecular weight: heavier than 900 daltons. Molecules heavier than 900 daltons are called large molecules. Macromolecules surely possess high molecular weights as explained below:
Macromolecules: ( [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)]
"A macromolecule is a very large molecule, such as protein, commonly created by polymerization of smaller subunits (monomers). They are typically composed of thousands of atoms or more. The most common macromolecules in biochemistry are biopolymers (nucleic acids, proteins, carbohydrates and polyphenols) and large non-polymeric molecules (such as lipids and macrocycles)."

Added on Sept. 10: Comet 67P Contains Numerous Macromolecules.
See details of macromolecules at [link to www.flickr.com (secure)]
Box at top left: a macromolecule named Kenneth. Red box at middle left: a macromolecule named Juliette. These two are from Comet 67P. Box at bottom left: a macromolecule from Murchison meteorite. Blue boxes at bottom: number of atoms in an element (H=1, C=12). Macromolecule Juliette possesses the highest molecular weight in this table. Rosetta spacecraft has collected 200 more such macromolecules from Comet 67P, according to paragraph 5 in [link to blogs.esa.int]
So, Comet 67P should have contained a lot of such macromolecules.
