Mystique believes Apocalypse has a big role for her, so she does many things at his request including luring various mutants to his lair to help him (against their will). But, he is only interested in Mystique as a tool..literally, he turns her into a statue that is the key to opening his tomb.

Mystique is a bad guy in this story (as she is most of the time), but it is still weird because she knows what is going on around her, but has no way to communicate she is anything other than a rock.

In this continuity, Mystique is the mother of Rogue and Kurt/Nightcrawler. She betrays them both. Rogue is angry at her, but Kurt loves her anyway. (Later in the series.)

Of course, Professor X and his students as well as Magneto and his students also go to Apocalypse's tomb. So, many characters are there.

Note also the owl mystique was transformed into prior which is athena's/medusa's/lunar queen's favorite bird.
