Two RAF Typhoon jets have been scrambled to intercept Russian Tupolev Tu-160 Blackjack bombers just off the coast of Scotland. The Russian bombers, which are capable of carrying 16 nuclear missiles, came from the east and passed just to the west of the Shetland islands. The Ministry of Defence said: 'We can confirm that Quick Reaction Alert Typhoon aircraft from RAF Lossiemouth intercepted two Russian Blackjack bombers and escorted them while they were in the UK area of interest. At no point did the aircraft enter UK territorial airspace.' Read more: [link to www.dailymail.co.uk] Follow us: @MailOnline on Twitter | DailyMail on Facebook WARNING TO RUSSIA!!! Anonymous Coward User ID: 70835309 United Kingdom 09/22/2016 04:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's our best interceptor since the Lightning. It can climb at 65k feet a minute; top speed: mach 2.35.Hardly something to laugh at. Still, the Russians could've launched their missiles before we even saw them on radar. |

Radar sure, but our Avian Astronauts would have seen the heat blooms from the launch of even the stealthiest missiles.(when fired at alt) Not that it'd matter, unless we're able to hit them beyond line of sight of the mainland. |

Their little rinky dink scrub air force may be adequate for bombing dirt farmers in Iraq and Syria but seem totally inadequate against a modern air force |
