On the TGR forum, the Maggots would ask each other: "Do you have change for a nickel?" if they suspected a fellow skier or rider of being a TGR Maggot on the slopes or a chairlift. Kind of like a Masonic-handshake sign or greeting. Or gang hand-symbols.

How about holding up a single forefinger and pointing to the sky while looking up? Or a gesture of putting on an imaginary tinfoil hat?
