Earthquake Advisory Issued for SoCal - Through Tuesday

Officials are warning residents in Southern California that a large earthquake is becoming more likely in the next few days along the San Andreas Fault.

The earthquake advisory is in effect for Ventura, San Diego, San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange, Los Angeles, Kern and Imperial counties, according to KEYT.com. The California Office of Emergency Services told KEYT.com that this equates to about a 1 percent increase in the likelihood of a major earthquake along the fault line through Tuesday.

"The scientist rated that there was an increased probability of up to 1 percent, so a slight increase," said Ventura County Office of Emergency Services spokesman Kevin McGowan told KEYT.com. "Really, at the end of the day, it is a great reminder to us that we live in earthquake country and that earthquakes can strike suddenly, violently and with no warning, so everyone's best bet is to be prepared prior to."
