There is a wise saying - "When life gives you lemons make lemonaide". But what to do when life takes AWAY your lemons AND oranges AND limes. 1dunno1

I would say when life takes away your lemons drink booze drunk but you can't even make a decent daiquirí, or screw driver. gaah And when you toss some tuquila down when do you bite on? A tomato? tomato Pardon me whilst I make a bloody mary. wine

"Freezing temperatures destroyed up to three-quarters of California's $1 billion citrus crop, according to the state's agriculture secretary.

"This is one of those freezes that, unfortunately, we'll all remember," said A.G. Kawamura, secretary of California's Department of Food and Agriculture.

Even as one storm completes its destructive wave — cutting into Martin Luther King Jr. holiday observances across the country Monday — residents throughout southwestern Texas are bracing for another storm system that will bring more ice, sleet and snow.

"Mother Nature is trying to equal things out," said National Weather Service forecaster Michael Eckert, referring to warm temperatures that blanketed the country before the storm hit.

Eckert said the latest storm, expected to slam Texas late Monday and move through the state today, could bring up to 6 inches of snow in higher elevations while lashing lower elevations with sleet and freezing rain.

Highway patrol troopers were deployed to South Texas. School districts began announcing closures.

Thats fine, we dont need oranges to sustain life, and there are other sources. Besides, weren't Californians told to leave before the BIG ONE??

I live in Florida. The trees here think it is Spring. They have sent out new leaves. If suddenly Winter returns there could be major damage to the trees themselves, not just the fruit.

I'm in North Florida and typically St. Augustine grass goes dormant in the winter. Well this year that has not happened. I still have green St. Augustine and the annual rye grass seed I spread over the yard in December has not come in like it normally does. Also, we have never used the AC from mid Novemebr to mid March in the past. This year we have used it several times as the temphave hovered near 80 with high humidity. Lastly, mosquitoes are never an issue in January. I have had multiple sightings of these the past 2 weeks.
