All English bibles are translations. The King James Version is 400 years old, and languages change. Even some words now mean the direct opposite. When you're not sure what a verse means, then it's best to check Strong's to check on the original Hebrew and what it is saying. How many do that?

If you read 4-5 chapters a day, then you will be able to read the entire Bible in a year. If you haven't gone over the entire Bible, you are unlikely to understand doctrine or the parables, and will be easily deceived and even be part of the coming falling away.
